Description
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

- Assists in planning and scheduling various youth and adult sports and fitness programs such as soccer, basketball, softball, and tennis. This includes camps, classes and leagues.
- Leads youth and adult sports programs within given budget.
- Assist's coordinator in recruiting, overseeing and scheduling officials and volunteers to conduct sports leagues and programs.
- Conduct training, clinics, and orientations, as needed, to ensure officials, and volunteers are knowledgeable and understand the objectives of the Sports Division.
- Open and close facilities.
- Assists with the development and implementation of programs by conducting research, planning and scheduling activities, updating and preparing course materials, and maintaining displays.
- Monitors program participants, and enforces rules, regulations and safety precautions at multiple indoor and outdoor recreation facilities
- Maintains discipline, monitors behavior, and resolves issues
- Monitors program activities, and assists participants in recreation activities and special programs
- Reports and resolves complaints, requests, safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities.
- Perform unskilled clerical work and other duties relating to conducting programs.
- Picks up trash and debris, and assists in the basic maintenance of grounds and equipment; maintains sports fields (e.g., lining, dragging and marking) to prepare for play and special events; cleans bleachers, restrooms, and periphery.
- Sets up and maintains recreation facilities for special events and scheduled programs. Basic maintenance includes but not limited to: sweeping floors, checking and restocking restrooms, cleaning and arranging equipment, emptying trash.
- Assists with execution, staffing, ordering and stocking of city run concessions stands.
- Makes needed equipment available and monitors its use.
- Observe and/or participate in activities.
- Assist with city wide special events and activities throughout the department.
- Recommends new policies and procedures to the Recreation Coordinator.
- Creates and maintains folders on all volunteers and coaches.
- Addresses customer complaints and concerns in a timely, professional manner. Inspects the physical environment (indoor and outdoor) of facilities to ensure they are safe and healthy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Organizing groups of various sizes and leading them in recreational or leisure activities.
- Make suggestions to supervisors regarding work flow, staffing, etc.
- Communicates clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with staff as well as supervisors.
- Think independently and make decisions easily under pressure.
- Visual ability sufficient to read and write reports and to use normal office equipment.
- Hearing ability sufficient to understand and hold conversations with others in person and by telephone.
- Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with others in person and by telephone

ABILITIES:
- Physical movement
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds frequently.
- Ability to drive vehicle and gator
- Position typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Must possess a valid AZ driver's license.
Applicants must be age eighteen (18) years of age or older.
Position routinely requires working flexible hours and applicants must have availability for weekend, evening and holiday work hours.
Applicants must have one (1) year prior experience in developing, implementing and/or executing recreation programs.
General knowledge of sport specific rules required.
Knowledge of field maintenance tasks preferred. This includes dragging, lining, and basic maintenance and upkeep.
First Aid and CPR certification required (Must have possession of it within 6 months of service).
Must be able to obtain a Food handlers certification within three months of hire
Applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
