The incumbent, reporting to the Zone Maintenance Director, provides functional leadership for Control and Automation within the Africa Zone. This includes defining the strategic direction for Control and Automation (C&A) and collaborating with global, zone and country business units to successfully deliver the strategy.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Define strategic direction aligned to business needs whilst leveraging on technology.
- Ensure alignment to the overall business strategy from global to business unit.
- Develop and implement KPIs and reporting systems as technology evolves to provide business insight.
Governance & Standards
- Ensure control and automation governance standards and practices are adhered to.
- Ensure technology upgrades comply with defined business standards.
- Ensure closure of audit findings across countries.
- Establish and enforce effective change management procedures for manufacturing systems.
- Drive the implementation and adoption of predictive maintenance technologies.
- Ensure cybersecurity governance, including compliance with OT security standards, network protection, access control, patching, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure protection of manufacturing systems against cyber threats and alignment to corporate cybersecurity frameworks.
Maintenance & Support
- Provide C&A operational support at country and plant levels.
- Manage manufacturing system security at plant and country levels.
- Ensure integrity of the control layer to MES integration.
Continuity and Risk
- Develop and standardize business continuity plans (BCP).
- Manage hardware and software obsolescence strategies medium and long term.
- Ensure security of control and automation systems.
- Promote best practices in disaster recovery and continuity.
- Ensure adherence to vulnerability and threat management.
- Ensure standardized controls in place for server rooms and server infrastructure.
Skills & Capability Development
- Ensure staffing pipeline and development plans are in place.
- Deliver against capability requirements for all C&A roles.
- Ensure continuation and evolution of community of practice learnings.
Projects (Investments)
- Support capital investment planning aligned to strategy.
- Ensure adherence to standards from project inception to handover.
- Ensure readiness for large capital projects.
- Drive implementation of new C&A technologies.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities.
Supplier Management
- Identify key suppliers and establish service level agreements (SLAs).
- Manage licensing and support contracts.
- Ensure effective deployment and management of C&A solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Specialization in Industrial Control and Automation.
- Minimum 5 years of FMCG or beverage industry experience.
- Experience in manufacturing excellence practices.
