Description
As a Medical Records Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and organizing patient medical records in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely record keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Review and process medical records requests from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other authorized parties
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all medical records
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all medical records
- Assist with audits and quality control measures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or incomplete information for medical records
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely processing of medical records requests
- Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and policies related to medical record keeping
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records management
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record keeping standards
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
