As an Application Engineer for drilling service, you will be responsible for delivering flawless execution across drilling operations by supporting pre‑planning, real‑time job execution, and post‑job evaluation. You will design well profiles or trajectory, analyze operational risks, running engineering simulations and develop technical solutions aligned with customer objectives. You will also play a key role in incident analysis, continuous improvement, and supporting commercial success through technical expertise. Your work will directly impact operational performance, customer relationships, and future business opportunities.

As an Application Engineer, you will deliver flawless execution through involvement in pre-planning, job execution, and post-job analysis. This position works seamlessly together with the Service Delivery Coordinators and other resources across organizational boundaries to ensure all aspects and constraints of the applications are understood and have been considered.

 

As an Services Professional - Applications Engineering, you will be responsible for:

• Ensure compliance with managing the Job Cycle (MtJC) process
• Work with the assigned Service Delivery Coordinator/Salesperson to understand the client’s well construction particularly drilling service objectives as well as the commercial terms for Baker Hughes (i.e. outcome based contract, line-item contract, etc.)
• Design well trajectory using approved software (Well Architect, Compass etc) and draft bottom hole drilling assembly, running engineering simulation such as torque & drag, hydraulic etc
• Perform offset job analysis and product/service specific engineering modelling calculations to understand application hazards and incident potential
• Work together with all disciplines and stakeholders to ensure all aspects and constraints of the application and suggested products/services have been considered
• Design a job program, including risk mitigation plans and contingency plans, that can meet the client’s objective(s), maximize revenue potential, and ensure future job assignments for Baker Hughes
• Accurately document any calculations/simulations/plan revision and/or changes during the project cycles for visibility to dependent teams and audit purposes
• Provide on-demand support in accordance with product portfolio or on-call schedule for job execution
• Work on Field Incidents related to products/services
• Participate in Incident Investigations when required, ensuring the end-to-end process is considered, (including job planning, preparation, and execution), when determining incident root cause(s) alongside appropriate corrective actions
• Ensure timely incident management to enable fast customer issue resolution and cash collection

 

To Be Successful in This Role You Will:

 

• Have a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

• Have minimum 1 years of experience in Well planning/ Applications engineering roles within Drilling Services or have experience in field operations for drilling services/ Wellbore construction as directional driller or MWD engineer or experience as drilling engineer

• Be able to speak and write in English
• Have the ability to travel (potential for travel to customer office or facilities, meetings, training, other SEA location etc.).
• Have the ability to be on call outside of normal business hours.
• Have excellent strong interpersonal, influencing and planning skills.
• Have problem-solving, process improvement, analytical and basic leadership skills.
