We currently have a number of exciting opportunities to join our Property Risks & Coverage Large & Complex Loss team, with roles available in both our Bolton and Manchester offices. Working as part of a collaborative and highly regarded team, you will assist on a broad range of property damage claims arising from major incidents including fires, floods, product liability matters and other complex losses. You'll support experienced lawyers handling high-value and technically challenging household and commercial property damage disputes for a portfolio of leading insurer clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a specialist team that acts for some of the firm's most important insurance clients and is involved in complex, high-profile property damage litigation.
Key Responsibilities
The team has a particular focus on complex matters involving disputed policy coverage and suspected fraud. You will support the delivery of strategic advice to a range of leading insurer clients on policy interpretation, evidential issues and prospects of success arising from high-value claims involving fires, floods and other significant losses.
This is a supporting role and does not involve managing your own caseload. Instead, you will work closely with lawyers across the wider team, assisting on a variety of complex matters and contributing to the effective progression of cases.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Obtaining and chasing key documentation from clients, experts and third parties
- Collating and organising evidence to support case strategy and decision-making
- Preparing court, Counsel and client bundles
- Managing diaries, including court deadlines, orders and other critical dates
- Arranging conferences, meetings and hearings
- Instructing and coordinating Counsel, experts and other external parties
- Undertaking legal research and preparing factual chronologies
- Supporting compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations
- Assisting with any other duties required to support the wider team

Working Hours:
35 hours per week Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. The primary locations for this role are Bolton or Manchester.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Degree level education and/or Post graduate
- An ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work with case management systems
- The personal skills to deal with competing demands of your team of lawyers
- Previous experience of working in a team which handles insurance claims
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the sorts of disputes dealt with by the PRC team
- Experience handling housing conditions claims
