About the Role
Reporting to the Department Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor provides hands-on leadership to the maintenance team to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, coordinates repairs, troubleshoots equipment issues, and leads a team of skilled maintenance technicians. Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality, the Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
What You'll Do
Supervise, train, coach, and mentor maintenance technicians to support safe and efficient daily operations.
Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant equipment, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed.
Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the maintenance department.
Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate the procurement of replacement parts and maintenance supplies.
Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, work orders, and compliance documentation.
Partner with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to support plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
Assist in planning maintenance schedules to minimize production interruptions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or another heavy industrial environment.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
Experience troubleshooting complex industrial equipment and implementing effective corrective actions.
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
Preferred Education
Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb, crouch, and work in confined spaces as needed.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work at heights and around moving industrial equipment.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and varying temperatures.
Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
