Job Description:

Note: These are vacancies for 2 part-time Faculty positions (up to 6 hours per week) starting September 8, 2026 and ending December, 2026. Expected teaching days are from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Note: These in-person positions are located at 120 Bill Martyn Parkway, St. Thomas, ON N5R 6A7.

Fanshawe College is seeking two skilled, journeyperson-level welding professionals to teach in the Welding Techniques program (WTQ1J) at the St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus.

Why This Role Is Important

Reporting to the Associate Dean, part-time Professors at Fanshawe College are responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. This 30-week Ontario College Certificate program is built for students who want to enter the welding trade quickly and confidently. The instructor’s role is central to that experience. The successful candidates will help shape the next generation of the local welding workforce. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required for most courses, and successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario.

What You’ll Bring

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Welder (456A) – Red Seal, issued by Skilled Trades Ontario. Candidates holding a C of Q in a closely related trade (437A Metal Fabricator/Fitter, Boilermaker, Ironworker, or Pipefitter) with significant welding scope may be considered. 

  • Must currently hold, or have previously held, valid Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) welder qualifications in at least two processes (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW). Current certifications are strongly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant hands-on welding industry experience, including completion of a full apprenticeship (456A or equivalent) is preferred

  • Availability to teach daytime between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (indicate availability on the application)

  • College level teaching experience and student evaluations are assets

  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success

  • Excellent communicator (verbal/writing) who is able to relate content to application

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required
