What you’ll do:
Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams building our Digital Services & Channels platform. You'll work with engineers across domain to evolve our architecture, improve reliability, simplify complex systems, and help shape the technical direction of the platform. We're looking for someone with deep experience building distributed backend systems, strong engineering judgement, and a track record of leading technical decisions in production environments.
Your key areas of responsibility include:
- Define and evolve the technical architecture of the platform.
- Design scalable, resilient, and maintainable distributed systems.
- Lead architectural decisions and drive long-term platform evolution.
- Solve the most challenging production and performance problems.
- Improve reliability, observability, security, and developer experience.
- Partner with engineering teams to reduce technical debt and simplify existing systems.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical discussions, and hands-on collaboration.
- Work with Product and Engineering Managers to balance technical sustainability with business delivery.
What will help you thrive in this role:
An experienced software engineer with a passion for building and evolving large-scale backend systems.
Key qualifications include:
- Extensive experience building, modernizing, and operating distributed backend systems within the Java technology ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, performance, observability, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience evolving large systems through incremental modernization rather than large rewrites.
- Sound technical solution evaluation and the ability to make pragmatic technical trade-offs.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams.
- Passion for writing simple, maintainable software and helping others do the same.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining high engineering standards.

Monthly salary range for this position - 5400-6900 Eur (gross) + annual performance bonuses. Although it may vary depending on your skills and experience.
