Description

  • 3-year full time, fixed term opportunity

  • An exciting opportunity to lead and shape impactful projects that support community and leadership initiatives

  • Base Salary $112,628 - $122,702 + 17% superannuation

About the team

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Community and Leadership) Portfolio leads the University’s strategic direction across culture, leadership, and our diversity, equity and inclusion aspirations. As a newly formed portfolio, it plays a pivotal role in shaping a thriving University culture and driving transformational change so every member of our community feels a sense of belonging, can thrive, and can meaningfully contribute to the ambitions of the University’s 2032 Strategy.

Following the completion of the Roadmap that set a clear direction for culture, inclusion and leadership, the team is now focused on implementation and embedding. Guided by the Roadmap’s principles and intended impacts, the work ahead centres on translating strategy into action, supporting leaders to work differently, strengthening alignment across the institution, and ensuring change is sustained through systems, practices and shared ownership. This phase marks a shift from Roadmap design to delivery, with a strong emphasis on practical impact and institutional transformation.

About the opportunity

This position is targeted for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Should your application be progressed, you will be required to provide your confirmation of identity documents, if applicable. Your recruiter will be in touch to advise you on how to confirm Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status.

As the Senior Project Officer (Targeted), you will provide high‑level project management support across multiple workstreams, ensuring effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and timely delivery of project outcomes. Working under broad supervision, you will contribute specialist advice, maintain governance processes, and support the University’s strategic initiatives through strong planning, communication, and implementation capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide expert project management support to the planning, establishment, and delivery of project initiatives

  • collaborate within cross‑functional teams to develop accurate and aligned project plans

  • coordinate logistical aspects of multiple concurrent projects, including resource allocation and team performance monitoring

  • prepare detailed project activity reports and recommend changes to maintain progress towards milestones

  • develop and implement project governance procedures, including risk mitigation and support for business cases and audit documentation

  • cultivate productive relationships and implement communication strategies that support stakeholder engagement across the University and community

  • monitor project budgets, track expenditure, and identify financial or operational issues proactively

  • undertake other duties consistent with the scope of the role as required.

About you

  • significant experience managing complex projects and coordinating diverse stakeholder groups

  • demonstrated capability in project governance, risk management, and reporting processes

  • strong skills in planning, organisation, and resource coordination across multiple workstreams

  • experience monitoring budgets and applying sound financial management practices

  • highly developed communication, influencing, and negotiation skills with an ability to build positive working relationships

  • ability to work independently under broad supervision, exercising sound judgement and initiative

  • relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a related discipline
