Role Overview
- Position Title: Payroll & Benefits Specialist
- Duration: 6 months (Contract / Project-Based)
- Work Location: BGC, Taguig City
- Primary Objective: To partner with and directly support our Local HR Payroll & Benefits Officer in processing high-volume, bi-monthly Philippine local payroll using advanced MS Excel models with zero room for error.
Job Summary
We are seeking an operational, highly disciplined Payroll & Financial Data Analyst for an immediate 6 month engagement at our office in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig. The ideal candidate must combine exceptional MS Excel processing capabilities with practical, hands-on experience in Philippine local payroll operations.
Above all, this candidate must demonstrate unwavering focus, high procedural discipline, and a proven ability to follow complex operational instructions to the letter. Because payroll directly impacts employee compensation, they must execute step-by-step processing workflows and correctly apply DOLE statutory rates with 100% computational accuracy under tight bi-monthly cutoff deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- High-Volume Data Processing & Input (MS Excel):
- Rapidly collect, normalize, and input raw operational data (timecard logs, overtime sheets, on-call hours, and Sick/Vacation leave filings) into master Excel working papers.
- Perform end-to-end bi-monthly salary calculations (1st and 2nd pay period cutoffs) with strict precision, following established calculation protocols step-by-step.
- Philippine Statutory, Tax & DOLE Premium Calculations:
- Calculate and review employee and employer statutory contributions in compliance with current SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG rules.
- Compute monthly withholding taxes on compensation based on current BIR Tax Tables, including proper application of taxable vs. non-taxable income (e.g., De Minimis allowances, 13th-month threshold).
- Apply DOLE Premium Rates & Multipliers according to law and company policy.Instruction Following, Quality Control & Audit.
- Strictly adhere to standard operating guidelines and Mich's payroll processing workflows without skipping verification steps.
- Build and maintain conditional checks, validation rules, and error flags in Excel to catch data discrepancies (e.g., missing time-ins, duplicate entries, negative net pay).
- Perform thorough pre-payroll and post-payroll self-audits prior to submitting work for final approval.
- Workbook Optimization:
- Assist in standardizing, locking, and structuring Excel master templates to streamline data entry, automate cross-referencing (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS), and reduce manual processing friction for future cycles.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Procedural Discipline & Focus (Must-Have):
- Proven track record of high focus and meticulous attention to detail when working with numbers under repetitive or high-volume conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions, SOPs, and DOLE/company calculation logic precisely without making assumptions or unauthorized alterations.
- Technical MS Excel Expertise (Must-Have):
- Advanced mastery of Excel formulas and functions (XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, nested IFs, SUMIFS, dynamic arrays).
- Proficiency in Power Query and Pivot Tables for fast data cleaning, merging, and ingestion.
- Rapid, error-free numerical data entry skills.
- Practical PH Local Payroll Experience (Must-Have):
- At least 2+ years of hands-on experience preparing or auditing Philippine local payroll.
- Deep practical knowledge of BIR tax rules (Form 1601-C calculations), SSS/PhilHealth/Pag-IBIG tables, and DOLE labor standards regarding variable pay components.
- Soft Skills & Work Style:
- Strict adherence to the Data Privacy Act (DPA) when handling sensitive employee pay and personal data.
- Structured, methodical mindset ("measure twice, cut once" execution).
- High composure and reliability under uncompromising pay-period deadlines.
