We are currently seeking a Transport Supervisor, ideally located to oversee the transport operations across Yorkshire.
You will support the Transport Manager in developing and establishing key projects or plans, alongside achieving optimal fleet utilisation whilst maintaining a strong focus on compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Embed and promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing across transport operations within the area through effective leadership, engagement and consistency of communication to both company and owner drivers.
- Ensure strict compliance with DVSA regulations and all relevant industry standards, ensuring the Operations license is always current and up-to-date.
- Maintain seamless coordination between transportation and distribution functions to assess resource requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including vehicle inspections and maintenance schedules, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in managing the transport budget for the area, seeking cost-effective solutions while maintaining service levels and operational efficiency
- Conduct weekly driver briefings to ensure smooth communication and address any immediate operational issues
- Assist in managing local contracts with service providers, including hauliers and maintenance vendors, focusing on effective negotiation, contract compliance, and performance monitoring.
- Address any customer complaints or issues related to transport operations promptly and work towards effective solutions.
- Supervise daily transport operations and serve as the primary point of contact for drivers.
- Monitor driver performance and compliance, providing regular feedback, and organising training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Understand Transport KPI’s to aid decision making and drive continuous improvement.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Previous Transport experience (essential)
- Knowledge of the Construction industry
- A hard-working approach with a can do attitude
- Demonstrated abilities in analysis & problem solving
- Effective communication & exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail & good computer skills
- A valid UK Driving License
- Transport Manager CPC (desirable)
