Mechanical Design Engineer

## What you’ll do:

As an Engineer Mechanical Design, you will have a focus on design, documentation and product validation for Product Line Support, Market adaptations, design-to-cost activities and New product developments of electromechanical products and components (eg. breakers, contactors, motorstarters). You work with cross-functional and international teams to deliver robust, cost-effective and manufacturable design solutions in accordance with applicable standards, quality requirements and internal processes.

• Develop and improve mechanical components, assemblies and devices based on defined technical requirements, including material selection of metal and plastic parts.
• Preparation of parts lists, assembly drawings, checklists, technical documentation
• Ordering and preparation of samples and prototypes
• Contributing on individual sustaining activities with focus on the engineering part and providing technical product and platform documentation
• Assistance on maintaining conformity to standards on dedicated products
• Provision and implementation of product optimizations, e.g., representing manufacturing process improvements and cost-outs
• Driving (technical) cost saving activities and projects and provide related development activities
• Technical input to customer documentation
• Consideration of environmental and ecological aspects during the development process (RoHS, Reach)
• Carrying out document release, change and deletion process

## Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree, technical college qualification or comparable education in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline

## Skills:

• Relevant practical experience in mechanical design, product engineering or development of electromechanical products (e.g. circuit breakers, motorstarters, contactors,...)
• Knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical design principles.
• Experience with 3D CAD and drawing creation; Creo Modeling, Siemens NX or a comparable system is beneficial.
• Experience with product data and change management using PLM/PDM and ERP systems; Enovia, Model Manager, SAP or comparable tools are beneficial.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes for metal and plastic components.
• Knowledge about and type-testing, regulations and product compliance.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, standards, test results and product compliance needs.
• Knowledge of structured product development methods and design quality principles, such as Design for Six Sigma
• Analytical and structured problem-solving skills; sound planning and organizational ability; collaboration in cross-functional and international teams; ownership and attention to detail; ability to balance quality, cost and schedule considerations; fluent English for day-to-day collaboration and technical documentation.
