Position Summary
The IT Portfolio Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for managing the enterprise IT portfolio to ensure technology investments align with business strategy, operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives. The role leads portfolio governance, demand management, investment prioritization, resource planning, and portfolio performance reporting to support informed decision-making and value realization. Working across business and technology functions, the IT Portfolio Manager provides visibility into portfolio health, financial performance, risks, dependencies, and resource capacity while promoting disciplined investment management and continuous improvement.Essential Duties & Functions:
- Manages the enterprise IT portfolio to ensure alignment with business priorities, technology strategy, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives.
- Leads portfolio planning activities, investment prioritization, and roadmap development across technology initiatives.
- Evaluates proposed initiatives and recommends portfolio adjustments based on strategic priorities, resource constraints, risks, and expected value.
- Manages demand intake, initiative evaluation, and portfolio prioritization processes.
- Facilitates portfolio governance forums and develops materials to support executive decision-making.
- Partners with business, finance, and technology leaders to develop budgets, forecasts, business cases, investment analyses, and value realization measures.
- Develops and maintains portfolio dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting that provide visibility into portfolio performance and investment outcomes.
- Monitors portfolio performance, financial results, resource utilization, risks, dependencies, and benefit realization, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Performs capacity planning and scenario analysis to support resource allocation and investment decision-making.
- Identifies opportunities to optimize technology spending, resource utilization, governance processes, and portfolio outcomes.
- Facilitates resolution of cross-functional portfolio issues, risks, and dependencies.
- Serves as a strategic advisor to business and technology leaders regarding portfolio priorities, investment planning, and governance practices.
- Builds and maintains collaborative relationships across business, technology, cybersecurity, architecture, operations, finance, and delivery functions.
- Leads efforts to enhance portfolio management processes, reporting capabilities, governance standards, and decision-support frameworks.
- Promotes portfolio management best practices and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications
Required Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and 12 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Seven years of experience in IT portfolio management, program management, project management, PMO leadership, strategic planning, or related disciplines.
- Experience managing IT portfolios, investment planning processes, governance activities, and portfolio prioritization.
- Experience supporting executive decision-making and technology investment management.
- Experience developing portfolio reporting, dashboards, key performance indicators, and performance metrics.
- Experience conducting financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and investment evaluation.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
- Knowledge of portfolio governance, demand management, risk management, and value realization practices.
- PMI certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), or Program Management Professional (PgMP).
- ITIL Foundation certification or higher.
- Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience using ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).
- Experience using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft 365 applications, and financial planning or reporting systems such as Workday.

Compensation Range:
$114,000 - 182,400We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
