Description
CHEM Group is a custom chemical processor with expertise in various distillation technologies, pastillation, blending, reaction chemistry purification and heat transfer fluids.
We are currently looking for a Production Manager for our Evansville, IN plant.
What do I have to do?
• Production management: Plan, prioritize, and direct simultaneous production, blending, recovery, transfer,
packaging, and support activities; meet goals for throughput, cycle time, yield, labor efficiency, equipment
utilization, on-time completion, and product quality.
• Chemical process oversight: Apply chemical engineering fundamentals to material flows, compatibility, process hazards, operating limits, mass balances, and process changes across varied raw materials and chemistries. Experience limited to one repetitive process is not sufficient for this role.
• Safety, environmental, and quality: Create an incident-free work environment and ensure compliance with EHS&S, environmental, waste-management, permit, quality, and company requirements.
• Troubleshooting and improvement: Lead investigation and resolution of process upsets, off-specification material, yield losses, equipment limitations, inventory variances, and recurring operating problems; use data to improve performance.
• Production planning and coordination: Develop daily and weekly plans and coordinate staffing, raw materials, tanks, equipment, maintenance, laboratory support, packaging, transportation, and customer priorities.
• Documentation and inventory: Ensure accurate batch records, inventory transactions, mass balances, production reports, operating logs, and customer data comparisons; identify and resolve variances promptly.
• Procedures and training: Create, maintain, and enforce clear operating procedures, work instructions, process-control expectations, and employee training.
• Computer systems: Use advanced spreadsheets, production and inventory systems, email, and reporting tools to analyze performance, manage priorities, communicate status, and maintain reliable records.
• Cross-functional leadership: Work closely with the Plant Manager, Laboratory, Quality, EHS&S, Maintenance, Transportation, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales to ensure safe and reliable execution.
• Purchasing and suppliers: Issue authorized purchase orders for services, repairs, parts, supplies, and shipping materials; balance price, quality, and lead time; negotiate favorable terms and pursue corrective action for supplier nonconformance.
• Reliability and site standards: Coordinate routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of critical equipment and maintain excellent housekeeping, material identification, storage, labeling, and plant readiness.
• Leadership and Management Expectations:
- People leadership: Direct, coach, develop, and hold operations employees accountable for safe behavior, quality, productivity, attendance, teamwork, and adherence to procedures.
- Credibility and authority: Lead experienced and long-tenured employees with professionalism and confidence; make fact-based decisions and address performance issues directly and consistently.
- Multi-operation control: Set priorities, allocate people and equipment, communicate operating status, and maintain effective oversight when multiple activities are running concurrently.
- Execution and adaptability: Remain organized and decisive in a rapidly changing environment, complete required follow-up, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
· Other job duties/requirements may be assigned or changed to adapt to business needs
