The Adult basketball official officiates adult basketball matches in MPRD men’s and women’s leagues.  Basketball programs are offered from January through March.    

Games are played on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays at various indoor recreation centers.    

 Job Duties 

• Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.  
• Officiates adult basketball games. 
• Assists building supervisors, as needed, with court setup including score table, chairs for players, and bleachers for spectators and helping with court tear-down at the end of the night as well.  
• Works with supervisory staff and assures the accurate setup of the playing courts. 
• Notifies, instructs, and corrects customer/participant behavior that is deemed inconsistent with athletic facility rules in a fair, timely, and polite manner. 
• Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment and communicates in a courteous and tactful manner. 
• Possesses the characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Additional Qualifications 

• Basketball rules and officiating mechanics and signals.  
• One (1) year of experience officiating basketball games. 

Other Information 

• This is not a KPERS covered position. 
• Seasonal position (Jan – Mar). 

Physical Demands/Work Environment 

• Work performed at assigned indoor sports facilities. 
• Work is performed in a potentially noisy environment. 
• Stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, feel, speak, hear, climb stairs, push, pull, or lift up to 30 pounds.
