Pay Rate: $42.00/game (MOA), $36.00/Hour (non-MOA) Youth and Adult Basketball Games
Work Schedule
As a City of Billings Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Official, you will serve the department’s sports programs by providing and carrying out officiating duties during City League Basketball. Officials will ensure a safe and positive playing environment for all participants. Officials must be 18 years or older to officiate. Officials should be decisive, candid, approachable, reliable, and teachable. Applicants must be knowledgeable about game rules, have experience in the activity they are officiating, and able to work well with adults. Games can be Monday – Thursday nights, Sunday afternoons, and there could be 3-4 games per day/night. Saturday Youth games on Saturday mornings. Salary is dependent on experience level and MOA status.
Work Schedule
- Work possible on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Sundays (2-3 days per week) for Adult City League. Saturday mornings for Youth games for Girls Basketball and Boys Basketball.
- 6:30pm - 10:00pm on weekdays, Saturday mornings on selected dates, 3:30pm - 8:00pm on Sundays, 2-3 games per night.
- Season runs early January–March for Adult City League. Dates subject to change.
- Girls Basketball runs Nov. 7, 14, 21, and December 5th for games. Dates subject to change.
- Boys Basketball runs January 23, 30, and February 6 and 13, for games. Dates subject to change.

- Oversee league games and promote fair play and good sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, referees, scorekeepers, and recreation staff.
- Supervise scorekeepers and ensure accurate recording of scores and game details.
- Assist with conflict resolution and make informed judgment calls as needed.
- Enjoy working with participants of all ages.
- Professional, confident, and capable of dealing with players, parents, and fans.
- Reliable transportation to and from games and training.
- Must be at least 18 years of age for Adult City League Games.
- Must be at least 16 years of age for Youth Basketball Games.
