UX Designer

Job Description:

Working within established and evolving UX frameworks, standards, and design systems, you'll help shape experiences that are cohesive, scalable, and aligned with both customer and business needs. 

Your Role on Our Team:

As a UX Designer, you will participate throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery through solution development, understanding user needs and translating research insights, technical capabilities, and product requirements into thoughtful interface and interaction solutions. 

You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Research, Engineering, and cross-functional partners to deliver customer-centered solutions.  

The ideal candidate is an independent and collaborative designer who can take ownership of complex design challenges, contribute during discovery and planning, and carry work from concept through implementation. 

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Partner with Product Management and Research to understand customer problems, identify opportunities, and contribute to discovery directly with Product Management as needed.  

• Design experiences for multi-platform products and solutions across web, iOS, Android, and connected hardware.  

• Balance customer, business, and technical needs to simplify complex workflows and inform design decisions.  

• Break down complex initiatives into manageable design activities, identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for incremental delivery.  

• Apply systems thinking to create cohesive experiences across products, platforms, and Milwaukee Tool's design system.  

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Owners, Engineering, Industrial Design, Development, other UX Designers, and Quality Assurance partners throughout the product lifecycle.  

• Take ownership of your work from discovery through implementation and ensure a high level of quality and craftsmanship throughout.  

• Generate concepts and prototypes, validating solutions through customer feedback and testing as needed.  

• Share work early and often to gather feedback, build alignment, and influence decisions.  

• Communicate design rationale and implementation requirements while ensuring experience quality through launch.  

• Contribute to team quality and the evolution of the UX practice through collaboration, constructive feedback, shared learning, and continuous improvement. 

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

• 3-5 years of experience as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer, Product Designer, or similar role.  

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.  

• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.  

• Experience contributing to discovery, problem framing, or early product planning activities.  

• Ability to communicate complex ideas and design rationale through appropriate design artifacts and stakeholder discussions.  

• Demonstrated ability to break down complex work, plan effectively, and manage priorities across multiple initiatives.  

• Working knowledge of design research methods, including end user interviews, concept evaluation, and usability testing.  

• Experience designing iteratively, shipping digital products, and using customer feedback to improve outcomes.  

• Experience applying design systems, mobile platform conventions, and responsive design principles.  

• Experience using AI-assisted tools to support design workflows, exploration, or product experiences is a plus.  

• Portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, systems thinking, end-to-end design process, and shipped work is required.
