Facilities Technician

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Facilities / Fuell Cell Systems Engineering

Shift: 1st Monday- Friday

 

Position Summary

The primary objective for the Facility Technician (Mechanical Systems) is to technically support the mechanical facility and lab facility support systems. This person will focus on maintaining and repairing facilities equipment including lab and assembly equipment. This person will also complete modifications and improvements to the gas facility distribution, water and sewage systems.  Finally, as a member of the Facilities Team, they may be asked to complete general maintenance tasks as required to maintain the buildings and grounds.

 

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the Facilities Team to complete specific assigned projects
• Assemble new and repair existing lab and production equipment
• Support lab and facility services including basic plumbing and gas delivery systems
• Interact with vendors to select proper hardware needed to complete projects and tasks Support/maintain test facilities by performing routine periodic maintenance on lab and assembly equipment
• Modify existing lab and assembly equipment as required to support fuel cell stack development Complete weekly inspections of facility and lab equipment as required
• Maintain spare part inventory for lab and assembly equipment and support systems
• Maintain and repair facility plumbing and lighting systems
• Assist with the fabrication of prototypes as required
• Participate in energy conservation and sustainability project teams
• Provide coverage for other Facilities Department staff during illness and vacations
• Participate in safety reviews and support all EH&S policies and directives
• Lead effort to achieve 5S compliance throughout facility spaces
• Other duties as assigned, such as shipping and receiving

 

Education and Experience

• Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience
• 3 years’ experience working with facility mechanical equipment and systems
• Ability to assembly tube assemblies using Swagelok products
• Customer focused orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers
• Well organized, team-player who will take a “hands-on” approach to solve problems
• Ability to generate mechanical schematics using AutoCAD or Visio desired

 

Pay Rate:

$16.50 - $23.00
