Job Description:
Darktrace is looking for a Manager, Content Marketing (SEO/AEO) to lead our organic discoverability strategy across traditional search and emerging AI-powered experiences.
This role will ensure Darktrace content is discoverable, authoritative, and aligned to our business priorities. Working closely with the content, web, and product marketing teams, you'll help shape how we create, optimize, and scale content that drives both visibility and demand generation.
This is an opportunity to help define the future of content performance at Darktrace, bringing together SEO, AEO, analytics, campaign alignment, and AI-enabled content workflows.
What will I be doing:
Campaign & Content Strategy
- Partner with Campaigns and Product Marketing to identify content opportunities that support pipeline generation and revenue goals.
- Ensure SEO and AEO insights are incorporated into campaign planning from the outset.
- Work closely with the Content team to develop content that balances search performance with compelling storytelling.
- Help establish a more integrated approach between content and campaign execution.
SEO/AEO Strategy & Execution
- Lead Darktrace's organic discoverability strategy across traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered answer experiences.
- Develop and execute content-led SEO and AEO programs, including keyword research, content opportunity analysis, on-page optimisation, and content refresh initiatives.
- Build and maintain a prioritised content roadmap aligned to search demand, campaign priorities, product launches, and strategic business initiatives.
- Ensure Darktrace content is structured, authoritative, and discoverable across search engines, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other answer-driven platforms.
- Partner with Web and Digital teams on technical SEO improvements that support organic visibility and site performance.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on organic performance, translating insights into clear recommendations for content, campaigns, and product marketing teams.
- Manage relationships with SEO agencies and external partners where required.
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
- Develop and lead Darktrace's approach to AEO — structuring content so it is accurately surfaced and cited by AI-driven answer engines and search experiences.
- Stay ahead of evolving best practices for structured data, content formatting, and authority signals that influence AI-generated answers.
- Partner with PMM and Content to ensure core product and category narratives are represented accurately when surfaced through AI answer engines.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Write SEO/AEO briefs and provide clear guidance to the Blogs/Long-Form Content Manager and any freelance/agency writers to ensure content is optimized at the point of creation, not after the fact.
- Partner with Product Marketing to align SEO/AEO priorities with core positioning and messaging.
- Work with Marketing Ops/Analytics to ensure organic performance is properly tracked and tied to pipeline where possible.
What experience do I need:
Experience
- Extensive expeience in SEO/organic content marketing, including significant experience in a B2B or technology environment, ideally cybersecurity or adjacent enterprise technology.
- Proven hands-on experience managing SEO strategy (technical, on-page, and off-page), with a track record of measurably improving organic visibility and traffic.
- Familiarity with emerging AEO practices or a strong point of view on how content should evolve to perform well in AI-driven search — hands-on AEO experience is a plus but not required if the fundamentals are strong.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong understanding of how content supports demand generation and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Fluency with SEO tooling (e.g., Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, GA4).
- Strong analytical skills — comfortable pulling and interpreting organic performance data to inform strategy.
- Ability to translate technical SEO/AEO concepts into clear, actionable guidance for writers and stakeholders who aren't SEO specialists.
- Detail-oriented and process-driven, with the ability to manage a content roadmap independently.
- Strong written communication skills to write briefs, guidelines, and performance summaries.
- Experience using AI tools to support content creation, optimization, research, or workflow automation.
Desirable
- Experience writing or optimizing content in the cybersecurity, cloud, or enterprise IT space.
- Familiarity with structured data/schema markup implementation.
- Experience partnering with distributed or international content teams.
Benefits:
23 days’ holiday + all public holidays, rising to 25 days after 2 years of service,
Additional day off for your birthday,
Private medical insurance which covers you, your cohabiting partner and children,
Life insurance of 4 times your base salary,
Salary sacrifice pension scheme,
Enhanced family leave,
Confidential Employee Assistance Program,

As a growing business strengthening its governance and controls, this role plays a part in supporting high standards of integrity and accountability.
