Description

Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.

At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.

We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.

Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself — where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.

At Lyten, we are accelerating the future of energy through breakthrough materials and next-generation battery technology. As we scale our manufacturing operations, we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to help design, develop, and optimize highly automated production systems that will power the next generation of energy storage solutions.

In this role, you will work at the forefront of industrial automation, integrating advanced robotics, vision systems, automated material handling solutions, and manufacturing equipment into world-class production environments. You will play a key role in building and sustaining smart factories designed for efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop automation requirements, functional specifications, and control system architectures.
  • Program, test, and commission PLC-based automation systems, primarily using Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Design and implement automation solutions involving robotics, vision systems, conveyors, AGVs, and specialized manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Create and execute test protocols to validate automation solutions and ensure robust system performance.
  • Integrate manufacturing equipment with MES and higher-level control systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Factory Design teams to translate operational requirements into effective automation solutions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and collaborate with automation technology suppliers, including robotics, motion control, vision, and assembly equipment providers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, reliability, efficiency, and energy reduction.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing operations through KPI-driven equipment and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and 5S standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automation & Controls, Mechatronics, Electronics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation within highly automated manufacturing environments such as automotive, battery, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries.
  • Experience with PLC programming (especially Siemens TIA Portal) and/or industrial robotics (preferably Fanuc).
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, OPC connectivity, MES integration, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, including requirement specifications, functional designs, test protocols, and validation reports.
  • Strong understanding of motion control systems, servo drives, robotics, machine vision, and automated material handling solutions.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and implement innovative automation solutions.
  • Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional environments.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • PLC programming: SCL, Ladder Logic, Graph, Function Blocks
  • HMI and SCADA development
  • Industrial robotics programming
  • Machine vision systems
  • AGV and ASRS systems
  • MES integration
  • Industrial networking and communication protocols
  • Electrical and electronics troubleshooting

What Makes You Successful

  • Results-oriented with strong execution skills.
  • Hands-on problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Curious, innovative, and passionate about technology.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and motivated by challenging goals.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
