The Beach Services & Watersports Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation of the resort’s Beach Services and Watersports areas. This position provides daily leadership and supervision to a team of approximately 10–15 lifeguards and 30+ beach services attendants, ensuring exceptional guest service, adherence to safety standards, proper staffing, and the professional operation of all aquatic and recreational amenities. Operational areas and amenities include Beach Services offering 600 sets of loungers and umbrellas, High Tide Slide, Floating Waterpark, non-motorized watersports (paddleboards, kayaks, floating loungers) and the Swim With The Fish experience. This is a key position and will require flexible availability including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Strong leadership skills required.
Responsibilities
Beach & Watersports Operations 1. Ensure all watersports activities operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with resort policies and established safety procedures.2. Conduct regular inspections and walking rounds of the beach, watersports areas, floating waterpark, equipment storage areas, and surrounding facilities.3. Monitor weather, water conditions, tides, lightning, and other environmental factors and make appropriate operational recommendations. Staff Management 1. Supervise and train beach services staff, ensure all SOPs are consistently followed, and assist with staff scheduling.2. Conduct daily pre-shift meetings, safety briefings, and operational updates.3. Monitor staff certifications and ensure required credentials remain current.4. Conduct regular skills reviews, in-service training, and emergency response drills.5. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and development of new team members. Guest Engagement 1. Provide a welcoming, professional, and engaging experience for resort guests.2. Collect feedback for continuous improvement & resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.3. Encourage team members to create positive guest interactions while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Safety and Compliance 1. Enforce department and property safety protocols and conduct regular inspections.2. Serve as a leader during emergency situations and ensure established Emergency Action Plans are followed.3. Complete and review incident, accident, and maintenance reports.4. Conduct regular emergency response drills and scenario-based training. Equipment and Facility Management 1. Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, organization, and condition of all watersports equipment.2. Ensure equipment is properly cleaned, stored, secured, and prepared for daily operations.3. Maintain organized equipment storage areas and ensure they remain safe and operationally efficient.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management or related field. (preferred, not required)
- Teaching Lifeguard & CPR courses, preferably American Red Cross. Scuba diving experience preferred. Jet Ski/PWC operating experience preferred. Previous resort, hotel, marina, beach club, aquatic facility, or watersports experience.
- Experience with equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance programs. Experience developing aquatic safety procedures or Emergency Action Plans.
- Lead by example in safety, professionalism, communication and guest service.

- Dependable and dedicated work ethic, must be available weekends and holidays.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors for 8 hours or more in Florida’s hot climate. Must be a confident swimmer. Ability to respond quickly during emergencies and perform physically demanding rescue and first-aid duties.
- Must maintain the physical ability necessary to meet applicable lifeguarding and American Red Cross certification requirements.
