Description
Our client, a commercial electrical contractor with a steady pipeline of large-scale projects, is hiring a Project Manager to take full ownership of commercial electrical work in Detroit, Michigan. You will carry each project from budgeting and early planning through installation, commissioning, and final turnover, with dedicated estimating and BIM/VDC resources supporting you.
This is an on-site role for a PM who comes from the self-perform side of the trade: someone who knows commercial electrical systems, runs budgets, schedules, field operations, and client relationships independently, and protects quality, safety, and profitability on every job.
What You Will Do
- Lead commercial electrical construction projects from budgeting and initial planning through installation, commissioning, and final turnover.
- Build and maintain schedules, procurement plans, staffing requirements, and cost forecasts that keep projects on time and profitable.
- Direct the work of superintendents, foremen, electricians, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors throughout execution.
- Review contracts, electrical drawings, and technical specifications to confirm project requirements and catch design conflicts early.
- Own change orders, RFIs, submittals, material procurement, billing, and project documentation.
- Track job costs, labor productivity, cash flow, and budget variances, and take corrective action when numbers drift.
- Partner with estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, and field teams to keep design, pricing, and construction aligned.
- Solve design conflicts, installation challenges, material delays, and scheduling issues before they disrupt the work.
- Run project meetings and keep clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders clearly informed.
- Uphold contractual obligations, workmanship standards, and jobsite safety requirements.
