St John of God Geelong Hospital is a leading private hospital providing a broad range of medical, surgical, rehabilitation and specialist services to the Geelong and surrounding community. As part of St John of God Health Care, you will join a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment focused on delivering high-quality, compassionate and patient-centred care.

Your Position at St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are seeking passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on a casual basis, providing high-quality care to patients requiring specialised cardiac monitoring and treatment.

This is a great opportunity to join an experienced and supportive team within a dynamic clinical environment, caring for patients with a range of cardiac conditions. You will apply your clinical knowledge and assessment skills to support the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care while working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.

If you are an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in cardiac or acute care nursing and are looking for casual opportunities within a supportive hospital environment, we would love to hear from you.

The Position

  • Provides direct, comprehensive nursing care to patients within the Coronary Care Unit, in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
  • Undertakes comprehensive patient assessments, recognising and responding promptly to changes in clinical condition and escalating care where required.
  • Monitors patients with acute and complex cardiac conditions, supporting safe and effective care throughout their admission.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgement and prioritisation when managing patient care in a specialised cardiac environment.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships with nursing colleagues, medical staff, patients and their families.
  • Provides clear and timely clinical handover and maintains accurate patient documentation.
  • Supports patient and family education, discharge planning and ongoing care needs.
  • Ensures infection prevention and control policies and procedures are understood and consistently implemented in clinical practice.
  • Maintains professional accountability and practices in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and hospital policies.

About You

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with recent clinical experience in an acute care setting. Previous experience in a Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit or other specialised cardiac environment will be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to recognise and respond to changes in a patient's condition. You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

The Benefits:

  • Casual rate: $53.90 to $68.03 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus12% superannuation
  • Casual opportunities offering flexible work balance

  • Employee discount on St John of God Hospital & Medical Services and Private Health Insurance
  • Innovative Professional Development opportunities
  • Access to a range of Lifestyle, Health & Wellbeing rewards and discounts
