The Opportunity
- 12-16 months: January 2027 – April 2028
- Pay Range: $24-35/hr
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinate, diagnose and troubleshoot incoming employee calls
- Provide support services to employees with technical problems and information technology issues involving desktop, laptop or network services from local personnel or from employees using network remote access
- Ensure key IT systems, hardware, services and processes are available
- Proactively evaluate and monitor performance of key systems and processes to ensure continued business operations
- Physical installation and maintenance of server and storage hardware
- Coordinate and communicate with leadership on proposed or implemented resolutions and changes
- Meet organizational SLA metrics
- Work with the global team as well as local stakeholders in the implementation and testing of new technologies and/or initiatives
- Collaborate with other IT and business teams on projects.
- Provide timely resolution of problems or escalation on behalf of customer to appropriate technical personnel
- Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures and customer service guidelines relating to IT support
- Manage incidents and service requests in the ticketing system in accordance with service targets and support procedures.
- Help users make effective use of supported technology and self-service resources.
- Provide case status updates to management and end-users
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution
- Open to Bachelors, Masters, and PhD students in Computer Systems Technician or related fields.
Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Windows Desktop expertise is a must
- Some experience in support Windows Server (2008R2, 2012R2) environments is a must
- Some experience in supporting server environments and infrastructure is required
- Some experience in supporting Linux (RedHat/CentOS) environments is preferred
- Some background in understanding and supporting hypervisor technologies is a must (VMware)
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID
- Understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of infrastructure (SMTP, FTP, SFTP, ssh, DNS, DHCP) services is preferred
- Experience in automation of manual tasks is preferred
- Backup and restore technologies and practices is preferred
- Cloud technology (Amazon, Google, Azure) is a plus
- Familiarity with macOS support and mobile device management.
- Web server experience (Apache, IIS) is a plus
- Working knowledge of Virtualization (VMware) is a plus
- Enterprise Networking knowledge is a plus.
