Head of AI, Innovation and Modeling-India and Philippines

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Head (Director) of AI, Innovation and Modelling

AI, Innovation, and Modelling (AIM) group within the Chief Operating Office (COO) Data Analytics and Reporting (DAR) team provides AI model development services across the organization. The team is comprised of data scientists developing predictive, generative, and agentic AI models and high impact transformative solutions as a Model Development Center (MDC), established by Model Risk Management (MRM) policy.

The AIM team is split across the US and India. In the matrix structure, teams in India have functional alignment to US leads and local reporting to the India AIM leader. The AIM India leader will also have functional ownership for specific initiatives within AIM.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in deep AI solutions in a large financial services company, experience in generative and agentic AI and other advanced analytic areas across machine learning and data science, a strong risk and control orientation, a “builder” mentality, experience leading large teams, player-coach work style, experience in AI and ML solution development, ability to tell a story using data, and an ability to work with a broad number of stake holders.

In this role, you will:

• Partner across the enterprise to anticipate business needs and identify advanced analytics and AI opportunities that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of COO
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement strategies for developing and using modeling resources to improve business fundamentals, advance new initiatives, and measure outcomes
• Help drive the Technology initiative book of work for the AI, data, analytics, and reporting roadmap
• Participate in the community of practice across Wells Fargo’s analytics, AI, and reporting teams
• Interpret and develop a range of policies and procedures to drive continuous advancement of the state of analytics and data science
• Allocate people and financial resources, and develop talent to meet business objectives and strategy
• Directly managing the team in India and co-lead the functional AIM portfolio of work
• Manage complex organizations that develop predictive, generative, and agentic models including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
• As a member of the AIM leadership team, participate in setting strategy and vision for the group, including the development and execution of AI and GenAI initiatives to deliver transformative business value
• Lead highly skilled quantitative analysts and managers responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of model development, from opportunity discovery through production implementation and value realization
• Manage model and operational risks

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of Quantitative Analytical experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 4+ years of management or leadership experience
• 8+ years of experience in predictive, generative, and agentic AI advancements in banking and financial services domain
• 4+ years of AI/ML leadership and modelling experience in translating innovation into timely execution and high impact business outcomes

Desired Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, or computer science
• Demonstrated experience leading large, regionally distributed teams, building strong capabilities, sustaining engagement, and managing talent pipelines and succession
• Functional depth and experience in data, analytics and reporting – working knowledge of tools, techniques, approaches, experience working in complex data environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate with executives, data scientists, and engineers; build partnerships; influence stakeholders; align AI objectives with business priorities; and drive execution in large, complex matrixed organizations
• Strong risk and control orientation and experience managing model risk
• Commercial orientation, strong business acumen, and good judgement
• Analytics and reporting product management experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to tell a story with data and translate technical concepts for general managers
