About the Role

DayOne is building its flagship hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, on a former industrial site in Kiveriö. The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.

As a Senior Building Services Specialist, you will lead day-to-day building services, civil and structural maintenance, soft services, and contractor management across assigned data center facilities. Reporting to the Building Services Manager, you will supervise technical support staff, and oversee the work needed to maintain building condition and operational standards. You will oversee facility maintenance, enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and execute Permit-to-Work (PTW) protocols.

Your key responsibilities will include,

Building Maintenance

• Overseeing routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance of non-critical building services, civil and structural components, plumbing, drainage, roofing, and architectural elements.
• Overseeing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) maintenance for comfort cooling.
• Inspecting whitespace, gray space, perimeters, and administrative areas daily; initiate corrective action for structural, security, and cosmetic issues.

Contractor Management

• Supervising janitorial, pest control, waste management, and civil repair vendors to maintain service quality.
• Issuing work permits and enforce PTW, risk assessment, and method statement (RAMS) requirements for all physical works.
• Maintaining compliance with local occupational safety regulations, fire standards, building codes, and internal International Organization for Standardization (ISO) frameworks.

 Maintenance Resource Coordination

• Assign, schedule, and review technical support staff’s daily tasks to maintain work quality.
• Tracking ticket turnaround and work order resolution in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintaining accurate inventory records for consumables, architectural hardware, paint, tools, and safety equipment.

Requirements

Technical skills

• Technical qualification in Facilities Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
• More than 5 years of experience in commercial building management or facility operations in high-tech industrial plants, cleanrooms or data centers
• Working knowledge of CMMS platforms, PTW processes, building management systems (BMS), and local fire authority regulations.

• Experience supervising vendor work and enforcing PTW, RAMS, and site safety requirements.

Soft skills

• Effective and clear communication skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is considered a benefit.
