PROJECT DIRECTOR – PARTNERSHIPS IN HEALTH PROJECT

The mission of the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA-NCADD) is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of the disease of alcoholism, other drug addiction diseases, and related problem.

The Program Director plays an essential leading role in developing and implementing prevention, treatment, and recovery programs and services. The Director is involved in supervising staff, and volunteers; managing contracted and collaborative relationships, data collection and evaluation activities; program reporting; and other administrative tasks required to meet program goals and objectives of the project. The Director is supervised by the Director of Program Operations.

Requirements

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES:

The required duties and activities are myriad and complex, all of which are necessary to run a project. Examples of the functions to be performed by the Project Director are as follow:

• Supervise project staff, volunteers, and interns.
• Conduct needs assessment and planning phases of project; organize and implement coordinate needed services.
• Promote enhancement of access to recovery support services and identification and removal of obstacles to access recovery support services including diabetes and other chronic conditions.
• Prepare monthly department and grant reports as needed.
• Maintain operational budget and coordinate all program evaluation activities.
• Assist in developing and implementing media and marketing activities.
• Work with project evaluator toward provision of evaluation reports.
• Provide and maintain formal and informal communications, recovery community, public, academic, press (newsletters, articles, letters, meetings, speaking engagements, etc.)
• Establish community coalition
• Attend relevant meetings, conferences and educational seminars, both internally and externally.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree or higher in a social sciences field (Experience may be substituted for education). 
• A minimum of five (5) years in staff supervision. 
• A minimum of three (3) years in experience in implementing an alcohol and substance use treatment or recovery program.
• Advanced ability to communicate clearly, and effectively both orally and in writing.  
• Advanced user in software, hardware and social media platforms.
• Valid Alabama Driver License and required insurance.  
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.  
• Regularly sits at a desk, drives a motor vehicle, and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds. 
• Works for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail. 
• Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Work requires frequent traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle.
