What is the opportunity?
The Portfolio Advisory Group's Portfolio Construction & Practice Management team provides investment guidance to 2,200 RBC Dominion Securities advisors. This role supports advisors in planning, constructing, and managing multi-asset portfolios for retail clients across all asset classes, fulfillment types, and portfolio-related challenges.
You'll synthesize advice from firm investment groups (PAG, Alternatives, Global Manager Research, Mutual Fund Research, and strategy teams) into cohesive, practical guidance. The ideal candidate has portfolio analysis and management experience as an Associate Advisor or Investment Advisor, with the ability to distill complex investment views into clear recommendations that align with advisor business and client needs.
What will you do?
- Work regularly with Advisors, either through scalable training and practice management sessions or through 1 on 1 consultations to help improve, refine, and augment their ability to construct and manage scalable comprehensive multi-asset models and portfolios.
- Assist advisors in the assessment and analysis of their client and/or model portfolios and potentially help with an analysis of their overall book.
- Act as a consultant to advisors in the preparation of investment proposals for prospective clients.
- Collaborate with the various investment teams to ensure knowledge of investment views and portfolio construction approaches are up to date, and that consistent and coordinated investment guidance is offered to advisors and their teams.
- Share best practices – portfolio construction/management, modelling, rebalancing, # of positions, selling, leveraging of resources/tools via presentations, individual conversations/consultations, and thought leadership (written or oral).
- Leverage the PAG portfolios to deliver guidance on portfolio construction and views on asset classes and fulfillments
- Help support the full suite of PAG portfolios, thought leadership, and capabilities in the field
- The successful candidate will need to establish and maintain productive working relationships with Advisors and individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher-level education.
- Experience in portfolio analysis and / or portfolio management either directly, or from supporting investment advisor teams.
- Proficiency in Excel MS Office including Excel, and familiarity with investment analytics software and outputs, including metrics
- Strong communication skills – able to distill a high volume of information and data into relevant, straightforward, and practical guidance in writing, in consultations, and in presentations.
- Team player with high attention to detail and a hunger to learn and develop your investment knowledge and understanding of the wealth management business.
- Ability to travel (up to 20% in Canada)
Nice to have:
- French communication skills (presenting, speaking, writing) could help differentiate candidates.
- CFA designation or working towards.
- Experience working in a Wealth branch (either DS or PH&N).
- Experience interpreting and communicating results from portfolio analytics software like MorningStar or myProposal.
- Experience interpreting and communicating results from Fund Fact Sheets or other managed money investment related materials.
- Experience with asset class specialization, portfolio construction and/or fulfillment due diligence.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- An understanding of LLM tools (RBC WealthAssist) and demonstrated ability to leverage AI to improve efficiencies for repeatable tasks.

Pay Range
The expected pay range for this position is:
