Description
The purpose of this position is to manage the planning and execution of recreational activities and programs for the Parks and Recreation department. This role involves guiding staff and volunteers, ensuring participant safety, maintaining equipment, and providing customer service.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Oversees the planning, organization, and execution of recreational activities and programs for the Parks and Recreation department.
- Guides Recreation Leaders and Aides in developing engaging programs that promote physical activity, social interaction, and overall well-being.
- Ensures the safety of participants during recreational activities and programs.
- Maintains and manages recreational equipment and facilities.
- Provides support to the administrative team during peak times by giving tours, answering questions, and covering the reception desk as needed.
- Delivers excellent customer service and communicates effectively with staff, participants, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong leadership in managing staff, organizing schedules, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manages budgets and administrative tasks to provide inclusive and accessible recreational programs for all ages and abilities.
- Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree in Parks and Recreation field preferred.
- Three years of related work experience of an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- CPR, First Aid and AED Certification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Certified Leisure Associate (CLA), preferred.
