About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use):

11

The Team

Credit Ratings is an integral part of S&P Global's Global Ratings Services, bringing together a diverse group of more than 1,400 analysts across key financial centers worldwide. The Corporates Ratings practice delivers forward-looking credit insights on a wide range of corporate entities, producing independent rating opinions that markets and investors rely on to understand how evolving risks affect financial stability and credit performance. The team provides analytical coverage of corporate issuers across the Transportation, Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, and Engineering & Construction sectors, monitoring industry trends, evaluating company performance and credit risk, and contributing to the ongoing assessment and maintenance of credit ratings.

Responsibilities and Impact

Impact

This role plays a key part in delivering the independent, rigorous credit analysis that underpins S&P Global Ratings' trusted, decision-ready intelligence. The Senior Analyst leads analysis for an assigned corporate portfolio, synthesizing complex financial and market data into clear, committee-ready rating opinions. By integrating AI-enabled tools with deep analytical expertise, the role drives productivity, quality, and consistency across the credit process — contributing to analysis that informs investors, issuers, and market participants globally.

Responsibilities

Team Contribution & Capability Building

  • Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to Research Assistants and Rating Analysts, building capability in credit analysis, data discipline, and analytical tooling while reinforcing values-driven behaviors.
  • Drive consistency and scalability by codifying standard work and promoting the disciplined adoption of shared analytical practices across the team.
  • Strengthen AI-enabled productivity by developing reusable assets and proposing lightweight automations that free capacity for higher-value human analysis and relationship work.
  • Partner with senior team members and Data and Engineering colleagues to identify, design, and scale AI and automation use cases with governance built in from the outset.

Core Analytical & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end execution for assigned credits, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely delivery with clear accountability across priorities.
  • Own ongoing surveillance for an assigned portfolio, synthesizing performance data, market signals, and peer context into decision-useful insights with clear risk implications.
  • Support the embedding of AI and automation tools into analytical workflows, applying structured validation and analytical judgment to maintain the integrity and reliability of conclusions.
  • Prepare and review key analytical outputs — including model inputs, metrics, assumptions, and published reports — ensuring alignment with methodology, sector frameworks, and evidentiary standards.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

  • Engage with external parties alongside senior team members, communicating complex analysis clearly and with credibility.
  • Craft client- and executive-ready narratives that translate data, research, and analysis into clear, actionable stories.
  • Build trusted stakeholder relationships through collaborative, adaptable, and analytically confident delivery.

Risk Management and Operating

  • Ensure adherence to methodology, confidentiality requirements, and data governance standards; escalate issues early with clear options and recommendations to protect analytical integrity.
  • Embed responsible, governed AI use into day-to-day workflows, using only approved tools and data while protecting confidential information at all times.
  • Support the design, testing, and rollout of controlled automation and AI-assisted workflows, contributing to guardrail definitions that distinguish what can be automated from what must remain human-led.
