Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes, and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

DePuy Synthes, a ~$9 billion business, has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager operating within Supply Chain Finance to gain extensive exposure across DePuy Synthes Principal Operations while leading the Currency Management team.

Role Overview

In this role, you will provide financial leadership to the Currency Management team, leading the identification and management of foreign currency exposures, centralized hedging, hedge and inventory accounting, forecasting, analytics and reporting across DePuy Synthes.

You will play a critical role in standing up the group to operate as a standalone DePuy Synthes Principal Operations team, ensuring that essential currency management activities continue to be performed to the highest standards of compliance, accuracy and insight before, during and after separation.

The immediate focus of the role will be to stand up the Currency Management team and its operating model; establish the end-to-end exposure identification, hedge submission, accounting and control processes required to support placement of hedges through a third-party provider; and lead the development and ongoing maintenance of replacement calculation and analytics capabilities as existing systems will not be available to DePuy Synthes following separation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a global team of three finance professionals.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for currency-related topics and questions across DePuy Synthes.
  • Lead the identification and management of foreign currency exposures, including centralized forecasting and balance sheet hedging, and establish the process required to place hedges with a third-party provider.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant hedge and inventory accounting in line with US GAAP and relevant accounting procedures.
  • Lead the calculation, analysis, reporting and communication of actual and forecast transactional currency impacts across DePuy Synthes P&L lines, including driver-based variance analysis, trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Provide currency analytics, insights and recommendations to DSPO, FP&A, Treasury and senior management.
  • Lead regular currency and hedge-result reviews with business partners and senior leadership and provide training and educational materials to strengthen understanding of currency and hedging principles across DePuy Synthes.
  • Lead the design, build, testing and deployment of a replacement tool to support currency calculations, hedging, analytics and reporting, and oversee its ongoing maintenance and enhancement.
  • Drive standardized and efficient processes through automation and analytics tools, including Power BI and Alteryx.
  • Partner across DSPO, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, Technology and Project Osprey teams to stand up the Currency Management team and ensure continuity of critical activities through separation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably with a major in Accounting, Economics or Finance; a Master’s degree, MBA or recognized financial qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of finance, accounting or related business experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to develop others, support organizational health and remove barriers to success.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to bring clarity to complex business issues, manage complex projects and processes, and translate complexity into practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills, including the ability to frame complex data, simplify written communications, influence internal customers and work effectively with all management levels.
  • Confident presenting to senior management, facilitating discussion and providing clear recommendations and solutions.
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic, high-visibility global environment, manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively across a virtual matrix organization.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset; Supply Chain experience and proficiency with TMI, Alteryx or Power BI are preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts and frameworks, including awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, and has experience generating effective prompts to boost efficiency and productivity.

Leadership Capabilities

  • Leads and develops talent through coaching, delegation and clear accountability.
  • Builds trusted relationships and influences effectively across a global organization.
  • Combines strategic thinking with strong execution, prioritization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates integrity, resilience and a strong continuous improvement mindset.
