Ready To Own Complex Pipeline Work End-to-End on a Data Platform Built to Power Analytics and AI at Scale?

 

Why This Role Matters

Data Platform Engineering exists to make the handoff from product data to analytics insight reliable and invisible. As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you’re the person teammates trust to get complex pipeline work right — designing, building, and operating the pipelines, transformations, and data quality systems that Reporting & Analytics depend on every day. You own your work from design through production, and you build it in ways others can reuse.

 

What You'll Actually Do

 

Design and build scalable data pipelines: Develop and operate pipelines that move data from product systems into the data lake reliably and at scale.

Build and maintain curated datasets: Construct and sustain large-scale transformations and curated datasets on open table formats consumed by Reporting & Analytics.

Implement data quality and monitoring: Build data quality checks, freshness monitoring, alerting, and lineage so problems are caught before users notice them.

Apply PII/PHI security and privacy controls: Implement access management, masking, encryption, and auditability across the platform to meet regulatory requirements.

Onboard new data sources: Bring new product delivery team data sources onto the platform cleanly and quickly, defining the data contracts behind them.

Tune performance and manage cloud cost: Optimize pipeline and table performance while monitoring and controlling cloud infrastructure costs.

Contribute to design and code reviews: Participate in architecture and code reviews, sharing knowledge and raising the technical quality of the team’s output.

Support on-call and incident response: Share on-call responsibility for the platform and respond to incidents with urgency and thoroughness.

 

Qualifications

What You Bring to Our Team

Education & Experience

• 5+ years in data or software engineering, with at least 3 years focused on data platforms or big data
• Production experience building and running data systems at real scale
• Experience in healthcare, benefits, insurance, or another regulated industry a plus

Technical Skills

• Heavy hands-on experience with large-scale data transformation
• Strong experience building and operating data pipelines and data lakes
• Hands-on experience with open table formats — Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake — including schema evolution, partitioning, and time travel
• Solid experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or similar
• Practical experience with data governance covering data quality, PII/PHI handling, and freshness monitoring
• Strong SQL and Python proficiency
• Apache Spark experience preferred
• Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture experience preferred
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices as data producers preferrd
