Job Description Summary

Responsible for maintaining Goggin Ice Center facilities and equipment by performing basic operations and facility support. Hours for this position are typically Tues - Sat, second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.

Job Description

Essential Duties

• Performs general maintenance repairs on facility components.
• Performs general ice making and maintenance tasks by operation of ice resurfacer and other related equipment.
• Monitors activities of the facility to ensure the smooth flow of operations and that all systems are fully functional. 
• Assist in event setup and teardown
• Hours for this position are typically Tues - Sat second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.

Duties/Physical Demands:

• Performs basic ice making and maintenance tasks.
• Performs skate sharpening tasks.
• Performs basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. 
• Perform basic and specialized custodial tasks.
• Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
• Serves as an informal resource to student staff.
• Assist in setup for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of mechanical repair
• Ability to read schematics
• Ability to complete on-going Certified Ice Technician training.
• Ability to complete on-going Certified Pool Operator training.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Somewhat disagreeable working conditions.
• Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
