About the Role:
The Athletic Supervisor oversees the planning, coordination, and daily operations of youth and adult sports programs, ensuring high-quality recreational opportunities for the Tribal community. This role provides leadership to staff, supports program development, and helps deliver safe, organized, and engaging athletic events. Employees are expected to perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of youth and adult sports programs and supervise sports staff.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate leagues, tournaments, registrations, scheduling, uniforms, and special events.
  • Manage concession operations, including customer service, food handling, and cash management.
  • Coordinate facility and field scheduling and ensure recreation areas are safe, clean, and event-ready.
  • Supervise the inspection, maintenance, and replacement of sports and recreation equipment.
  • Collaborate with Recreation staff, Tribal departments, and community partners to support programs and events.
  • Assist with program budgets, drug testing, meetings, and administrative reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures and provide staff supervision, performance evaluations, scheduling, and timekeeping.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications: 
  • Associate degree in Public Administration, Recreation Administration, Social Services, Physical or Health Education or related field and/or a combination of education and related employment experience equivalent to two (2) years required.
  • Two (2) years of related employment and/or volunteer experience in coaching/operating adult or youth organized sports including operating food services, creating sports schedules, and programs with league organizations required.
  • One (1) year of experience working with sports officials is required.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience in monitoring or coordinating the activities of subordinates including general supervision, performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, leave approval, timesheets, etc. required.
  • Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving, or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment.
  • Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines. • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.

  • Must be available to work scheduled evenings, weekends, and special events as assigned.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other Windows-based applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with program participants and the community.
  • Dependable, accountable, and committed to following policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
