POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant will provide general support to the finance team. This role will gain hands-on experience in accounting and finance while helping the team with fixed asset administration, credit card expense documentation, and other finance related activities. The role will also focus primarily on organizing documentation, following up on outstanding information, and assisting with routine finance processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the ongoing fixed asset clean-up project.
- Pull and organize invoices and supporting documentation for fixed asset purchases.
- Help maintain and review the fixed asset listing.
- Coordinate with Operations to verify whether older assets are still in use or should be identified for disposal/scrap.
- Help ensure fixed asset records and supporting documentation are complete and organized.
- Review company credit card transactions for missing information, coding, or receipts.
- Follow up with credit card holders to obtain appropriate expense coding and supporting receipts.
- Assist with entering or attaching receipts and supporting documentation in the expense system.
- Help keep outstanding credit card items organized and follow up as needed.
- Assist with reviewing customer pricing discrepancies as needed.
- Gather supporting information and documentation to help the Finance team research and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance team on other projects as time allows.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct reports.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Interest in accounting, finance, or business.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets, invoices, receipts, and financial documentation.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is helpful.
- Comfortable communicating and following up with employees across the organization.
- Reliable and able to handle company financial information with appropriate confidentiality.
- Willingness to learn and ask questions.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Currently enrolled in a college or university and actively pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred.
- Basic understanding of accounting and finance concepts through coursework or previous experience preferred.
- Exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, expense reporting, reconciliations, or bookkeeping is preferred
- Experience with an ERP or financial system, such as Workday, is preferred
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard

- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to carry 5-10 lbs. (computer, etc.)
