Field Line Manager – Chiller Service Operations

Within our HVAC Service business, we provide maintenance, repair, commissioning, and lifecycle support for critical cooling and heating systems. Our specialised chiller service teams support some of Ireland's most demanding customers across pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing, data centre, healthcare, and high-tech environments.
We are seeking an experienced Field Line Manager to lead and develop a team of Chiller Service Engineers while ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of service activities across the region.
What You Will Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Chiller Service Engineers, creating a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
- Drive a strong safety-first mindset, ensuring full compliance with company Health & Safety policies and Zero Harm objectives.
- Manage the day-to-day operational performance of the field engineering team, ensuring service delivery commitments are achieved.
- Oversee resource planning, engineer utilisation, work allocation, and emergency response activities.
- Support engineers with technical escalation, customer issues, and complex troubleshooting requirements.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, development discussions, and succession planning activities.
- Ensure all planned maintenance, repair, breakdown, and commissioning activities are completed to the required quality standards.
- Monitor and improve key operational metrics including productivity, service quality, response times, and customer satisfaction.
- Partner closely with Service Coordinators, Operations Managers, Sales Teams, and Technical Specialists to ensure effective service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as an escalation point for service and operational matters.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing technical development of service personnel.
- Identify opportunities for service growth, equipment upgrades, lifecycle replacement projects, and additional customer support offerings.
- Ensure accurate completion of service documentation, compliance records, and reporting requirements.
How You Will Do It
- Provide visible leadership through regular field engagement, site visits, safety observations, and customer meetings.
- Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Balance customer expectations, commercial objectives, and resource availability to achieve business targets.
- Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, training plans, and technical support.
- Collaborate closely with technical specialists and factory support teams to resolve complex equipment and customer challenges.
- Drive service excellence through effective planning, communication, and performance management.
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement corrective actions where performance improvements are required.
- Promote proactive customer engagement and ensure a consistently high standard of service delivery.
What We Look For
- Previous experience leading or supervising field-based engineering or service teams.
- Strong technical background within HVAC, refrigeration, chillers, heat pumps, or industrial cooling systems.
- Proven experience supporting maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
- Experience managing customer relationships within pharmaceutical, life sciences, manufacturing, healthcare, data centre, or similar environments.
- Ability to prioritise multiple operational demands in a fast-paced service environment.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of service delivery performance and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and compliance requirements associated with field service operations.
Highly Advantageous
- Experience managing teams supporting YORK, Sabroe, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, or similar chiller technologies.
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments.
- Refrigeration qualification, F-GAS certification, electrical trade qualification, mechanical qualification, or engineering degree.
- Experience with field service management systems, workforce planning, and operational reporting.
- Knowledge of industrial refrigeration and ammonia systems.
- Proven experience driving operational improvements and service business growth.
