Description
Key Responsibilities
- Complete routine cleaning tasks in assigned areas
- Empty waste bins, empty and clean, and dispose of all rubbish and waste items from rooms – disinfecting where necessary
- Collect and clean dishes after each of residents’ mealtimes
- Maintain bedroom and bathroom cleanliness respecting residents with courtesy and respect
- Maintain care of residents’ personal effects
- Clean general sitting areas and corridors
- Dust window blinds and rearrange drapes to their original placements
- Clean rugs and carpets, upholsteries, curtains and drapes, using specified vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
- Sweep, mop and polish non-carpeted floors
- Clean unit kitchen equipment after use
- Maintain high Food and Hygiene standards where necessary
- Comply with regulations of the Control of Substances Hazardous Health Regulations (COSH)
- To ensure all areas of the laundry, including the laundry processing equipment and linen cupboards are clean, hygienic and in tidy condition.
- Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials, ensuring that they are kept in safe, clean and efficient condition and reporting to the Registered Manager where any item of such equipment requires repair or replacement.
- Ensuring that any and all chemicals used in the laundry room are kept safely and are replenished, participating in stock checks as required, and to report to the Manager when there is a need to order stocks, to preserve the continuous operation of the laundry service.
- To sort and wash all household linen and residents’ personal clothing in a timely manner, ensuring that all items are processed at the correct temperatures and settings required according to the type of fabric and to make sure that all items are thoroughly cleansed and stain free.
- Ensure that any items that require thermal disinfection, are processed correctly and that the company’s Infection Control policies are strictly adhered to, including the correct method of handling the soiled items and the use of PPE.
- Ensuring that all items of the household linen and residents’ personal clothing, are ironed & pressed as required in order to maintain a high standard of finished articles.
- To ensure that all items of personal clothing and household linen are in a good state of repair, checking that personal clothing is clearly labelled with the resident’s name, and bringing to the attention of the Manager where any items may require replacement.
- Make sure to return all residents’ personal clothing to the appropriate resident’s bedroom, and all household linens to the relevant storage cupboards.
- To understand responsibilities in relation to Fire Procedures, Health & Safety, COSHH, Infection Control & Emergency First Aid.
- To undertake such other duties as may be determined from time-to-time within the general scope of the role.
- To undertake other duties as required as directed by the Registered Manager or Senior Housekeeper.
