Team / Division Overview

The DWS Alternatives business is a diversified set of business activities with approximately EUR 150bn in assets under management in strategies including Private Real Estate, Private Infrastructure, Alternative Credit, Liquid Real Assets (Real Estate/Infrastructure and Commodity Securities) and Sustainable Investments.  The global team invests on behalf of a global client base that includes governments, corporations, institutional investors, as well as a growing UNHW investor group.

Alternatives Coverage is part of the DWS Client Coverage Division and are the Alternatives Specialists responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of client relationships on behalf of the Alternatives platform and will work closely with the Investment teams, Product Division and broader Global Client Coverage Division.

Role Details

As a Senior Relationship Manager for Private Credit, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading fundraising efforts across North America for DWS's European Private Credit strategies, with a primary focus on institutional investors in Canada and the United States.

  • Developing and executing a targeted sales and capital raising strategy for Private Credit products, aligning fundraising activity with client demand, market opportunities and strategic business priorities.

  • Cultivating and managing relationships with key institutional investors, including Canadian pension funds, US pension funds, and select insurance investors.

  • Leveraging an established network of institutional decision-makers, consultants and investment advisors to originate new opportunities and accelerate fundraising outcomes.

  • Generating and advancing a robust pipeline of prospective investors, proactively securing meetings, identifying new mandates and converting opportunities into assets under management.

  • Partnering closely with Investment, Product, Investor Relations and Client Coverage teams to deliver coordinated client engagement and capital formation initiatives.

  • Representing DWS Private Credit strategies in client meetings, due diligence sessions, industry conferences and investor events.

  • Maintaining a deep understanding of private credit, fixed income and broader institutional asset allocation trends to provide market insights to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of fundraising materials, investor presentations, due diligence questionnaires (DDQs), RFP responses and other marketing content.

  • Managing investor due diligence processes and supporting successful onboarding of new investors in partnership with internal stakeholders.

  • Gathering and sharing market intelligence, competitive insights and client feedback to inform product development, fundraising strategies and business planning.

  • Building strong relationships across the DWS Alternatives platform, acting as a trusted partner to investment professionals and broader distribution teams.

  • Supporting the achievement of fundraising targets through disciplined opportunity management, pipeline reporting and execution against strategic growth objectives.

We are looking for: 

  • Proven success in institutional capital raising, fundraising or business development within private markets, alternative investments, private credit or fixed income.

  • A demonstrated track record of raising capital from institutional investors across North America, particularly pension funds and other large asset owners.

  • Existing relationships with Canadian pension plans, US pension funds, consultants and institutional investment decision-makers that can be leveraged immediately.

  • Strong knowledge of private credit markets, fixed income investing and institutional portfolio construction.

  • Experience marketing and distributing alternative investment products, including private credit, direct lending, asset-based finance, opportunistic credit and related strategies.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, originate and convert investment opportunities into successful fundraising outcomes.

  • A thorough understanding of the institutional fundraising lifecycle, including prospecting, due diligence, negotiations and investor onboarding.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a senior client-facing role while collaborating effectively across investment, product and distribution teams.

  • Excellent relationship management, networking and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to establish credibility with both clients and investment professionals.

  •  Strong presentation and communication skills, including experience leading sophisticated investment discussions with institutional audiences.

  • A proactive, entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset, with a proven ability to create opportunities rather than solely manage existing relationships.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple fundraising initiatives and priorities simultaneously.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.

License(s) required:

  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses or within three months of start date.

The salary range for this position in New York is $146,000 to $255,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.  Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
