Description
Founded in 1919, The New School is a progressive, historic university in New York City. It is celebrated for redefining the boundaries of premier design, performing arts, liberal arts, and social research education. Bringing together more than 8,300 students across distinct, world-renowned colleges—including Parsons School of Design, the College of Performing Arts, Eugene Lang College, and The New School for Social Research (NSSR)—the university is transitioning to a dynamic two-college model, designed to integrate all art, design and performing arts within one college and liberal arts and social research in a second.
To support this model, the Brand, Marketing & Communication (BMC) department is creating a highly supportive, integrated, and collaborative administrative ecosystem which includes two complementary and interwoven types of operating structures: one designed to provide an enterprise-wide spine of service and support, and another with integrated BMC teams dedicated to each of the two colleges.
BMC seeks a creative and analytic Student Assistant Specialist to assist the Associate Director of Events and Audience Engagement in elevating The New School brand and supporting enrollment. This role requires a high level of organization and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The right candidate will have a solid understanding of data management and visualization, the ability to responsibly work with Personally Identifiable Information (PII), a sharp, copy-editor’s eye, and an interest in strategic project management.
The role will support work on the university’s monthly Public Programs Newsletter which reaches an audience of over 100K, and an internal Splash users newsletter. Regular projects include editing copy and HTML and managing subscriber lists, but there will also be the opportunity to offer input on content and help craft and edit event marketing descriptions.
The student worker will be responsible for creating monthly Splash data reports, ad hoc reports as needed, and managing data tracking for the Public Programs newsletter and other marketing initiatives. They will assist with key strategic projects from planning to execution, and be available on-site for key events and activations. Other tasks that fall under the purview of Events and Audience Engagement may be assigned.
