About the Role:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance & Accounting, the Director of Treasury is responsible for providing strategic leadership for and building the capabilities of Neurocrine’s treasury and insurance function. The role oversees treasury operations, banking relationships, treasury technology, and the development of financial risk management capabilities, as well as the Company’s property & casualty and directors & officers insurance programs. In partnership with senior Finance leadership, the Director supports capital markets, financing, and capital allocation initiatives. The Director establishes the operating model, governance framework, policies, controls, technology roadmap, and functional capabilities required to support the Company’s continued growth; serves as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership; and leads complex cross-functional initiatives and strategic transactions.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

Treasury

  • Develop and execute the Company's treasury strategy, operating plan, policies, performance measures, and multi-year capability roadmap that informs and aligns with Finance and Company priorities

  • Build and continuously enhance scalable treasury capabilities by establishing governance, operating processes, internal controls, technology, and functional capabilities to support the Company's continued growth

  • Lead enterprise cash forecasting, daily liquidity management, and short- and long-term liquidity planning, including stress testing and contingency funding analyses

  • Lead the Company's investment portfolio strategy and execution, including cash deployment, maturity and duration planning, liquidity segmentation, counterparty exposure, custody relationships, and compliance with investment policies

  • Lead strategic relationships with commercial banks, revolving credit facility lenders, investment managers, custodians, and other financial institutions, including oversight of banking services, fee negotiations, service levels, and treasury-related vendor relationships

  • Lead global treasury operations, including cash positioning, bank account administration, signatory governance, payment controls, fraud prevention, treasury compliance, and banking documentation

  • Develop and manage intercompany funding and settlement processes to support the Company's evolving global operations, including intercompany loans, cash transfers, funding requirements, and cash repatriation; partner closely with Tax, Accounting, and Legal to evaluate funding alternatives and establish appropriate documentation, controls, and processes considering tax, accounting, regulatory, and legal-entity requirements

  • Partner with Finance leadership to evaluate and execute capital markets and financing initiatives, including administration of the Company's credit facility, financing analyses, covenant compliance, lender communications, interest rate risk management, and preparation for future credit rating agency engagement and debt market access, as appropriate

  • Develop analyses and recommendations supporting capital allocation decisions related to liquidity reserves, investment strategy, debt management, acquisitions, strategic investments, and shareholder return initiatives

  • Develop and enhance the Company’s financial risk management framework by identifying, assessing, and monitoring foreign exchange, interest-rate, liquidity, counterparty, and other financial exposures. Evaluate and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies, including derivative or hedging programs as warranted by the Company’s evolving operations and capital structure, and partner with Accounting on related controls, accounting, valuation, and financial reporting considerations

  • Support acquisitions, divestitures, licensing transactions, and other strategic initiatives through treasury due diligence, financing analyses, banking and cash management integration, and transition planning

  • Lead the treasury technology and automation roadmap, including Kyriba, bank connectivity, cash and liquidity reporting, investments, debt administration, controls, data integration, analytics, and appropriate applications of artificial intelligence and workflow automation

Insurance

  • Lead administration of the Company's property & casualty and directors & officers insurance programs, including business and contingent business interruption, general and product liability, clinical trials, cyber, fiduciary, employment practices, crime, automobile, international, and other specialty coverages

  • Lead annual insurance renewals and market placements in partnership with insurance brokers and Legal, including exposure analysis, coverage design, policy negotiations, insurer selection, limits and retentions, benchmarking, premium allocation, and recommendations to executive leadership

  • Manage strategic relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, underwriters, claims administrators, and external advisors, establishing performance expectations, service standards, and accountability for program delivery

  • Partner closely with Legal, Supply Chain, Research & Development, Commercial, Information Technology, Human Resources, Facilities, Quality, and Internal Audit to identify evolving business risks, support contractual insurance requirements, and align insurance strategies with the Company's operational and growth objectives

  • Oversee administration of global clinical trial insurance programs, including placement and renewal of country-specific policies, coordination with brokers, contract research organizations, Legal, and study teams to support international clinical development activities and regulatory requirements

  • Partner with Legal to review contractual insurance requirements, certificates of insurance, indemnification provisions, and vendor risk transfer requirements to ensure alignment with the Company's insurance program

  • Partner with Commercial, Legal, Human Resources, and other business leaders to support the Company's evolving insurance and risk management needs, including new commercial operations, field-based employees, international expansion, and other strategic initiatives

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field and 12+ years of related experience in Treasury, capital markets, investments, corporate finance, and/or insurance OR

  • MBA/MS/MA in Finance, Business Administration, or related field and 10+ years of related experience noted above

  • Deep technical knowledge across corporate treasury disciplines, including liquidity, investments, capital markets, banking, derivatives, financial risk management, and corporate insurance

  • Advanced financial modeling, market data interpretation, portfolio analytics, cash forecasting, stress testing, and scenario analysis skills

  • Demonstrated expertise with revolving credit facilities, debt compliance, capital markets transactions, bank groups, rating agency analysis, investment portfolios, and financing strategies

  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate insurance program design and placement, including coverage and limits analysis, broker and carrier management, risk assessments, claims coordination, and executive recommendations

  • Working knowledge of hedge accounting, ASC 815, investment accounting, fair value concepts, and treasury-related financial reporting and controls

  • Experience leading Kyriba or another treasury management system, bank connectivity, and process transformation; familiarity with Bloomberg, FXall, Clearwater, or bank portals preferred

  • Demonstrated application of artificial intelligence, workflow automation, analytics, or data platforms to strengthen treasury efficiency, controls, and reporting

  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, geographic expansion, or other significant corporate transactions preferred

  • CTP, CFA, CPA, MBA, or MS Finance preferred

  • Recognized as an internal thought leader with extensive technical and business expertise in Treasury and Insurance

  • Develops strategic plans and translates complex strategies into clear operational and tactical priorities

  • Applies advanced analytical judgment to solve complex, ambiguous issues and develop innovative solutions

  • Influences senior leaders and communicates complex financial and risk concepts clearly to diverse audiences

  • Builds scalable functional capabilities and operating models, leads cross-functional alignment, drives accountability, and models Neurocrine's values

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $181,500.00-$247,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
