Job Description:
Pediatric HospitalistSupport the organization’s mission, vision and values by adhering to the behavioral standards of Bay Area Hospital. Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people from various backgrounds are critical.POSITION SUMMARY
- Physician responsible for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients throughout the hospital including the acute care areas, ICU and newborn nursery. Responsible for coordinating care for wide range of conditions affecting hospitalized patients ages 17 and under. Responsible for responding to pediatric emergencies across the hospital and in ambulatory settings within the hospital. Responsible for well baby exam and directing care of newborns in the Family Birth Center.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examines, diagnosis and provides broad scope of treatment for pediatric disease processes
- Performs patient examination, obtains the records of pertinent medical history, subjective and objective findings
- Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan
- Administers prescribed medications and compliance within the state law and practice guidelines
- Instructs patient and family regarding treatments, and medications
- Orders and preforms appropriate medical procedures in accordance with the state law practice guidelines
- Educates patients regarding health, illness prevention, and healing. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information, documenting clearly and concisely
- Triage patient telephone calls, providing consultation as needed
- Documents all patient care within the electronic medical record and completes all necessary tasks in compliance with Bay Area Hospital standards

- Remains current with CME activity. Must meet organizational CME requirements, board certification, and compliance with all Bay Area rules and continuing privileges without restriction
- Keeps all licenses and appropriate certifications current and unrestricted
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patients and administration
- Maintains quality of clinical practice by selecting appropriate avenues for professional growth

- Meets criteria for medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges

- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on the telephone
- May require periodic use of personal computer
