Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Social Designer will possess strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube. This position supports Goodwill’s mission by planning, curating, implementing, and continuously improving an established social media strategy across multiple channels. The Social Designer is responsible for posting and storytelling related to Goodwill’s mission, events, programs, retail initiatives, sustainability efforts, and community impact. This role creates engaging visual assets including photos, videos, and graphics using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CapCut. The position also monitors social media performance, analyzes trends, and recommends improvements to content, format, and posting strategy to grow and engage audiences with the support of Hootsuite.
Additionally, the Social Designer should be competent in WordPress, the ability to add blog posts, pop-ups, and new information to our website is essential. The person in this position should be a strong writer able to curate captions, blog posts, and emails for our email marketing program. Familiarity with email marketing software is a bonus.Our organization uses Campaign Monitor to maintain our email marketing program.
Responsibilities
Essential Funcitions Statement (s):
1. Proofreads social media content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and proper grammar, punctuation,and spelling.
2. Creates and edits visual assets (photos, videos, graphics) using Adobe Creative Suite,and CapCut.
3. Curates relevant and engaging content featuring Goodwill retail merchandise, ambassadors,events, sustainability initiatives, and mission programs.
4. Plans, implements, and supports weekly and monthly social media content calendars throughHootsuite and other social medica scheduling and analytics tools.
5. Basic WordPress skills and knowledge used to add information to our website including blogposts, pop-ups and new information.
6. Monitors channel performance and provide quarterly reports including data insights,trends, and recommendations for improvement.
7. Researches potential influencers, makes partnership recommendations, establishes relationships,and collaborates following approved procedures and Memorandum of Understanding. Collaborates with 12+ influencers per year.
8. Provides graphic design support beyond social media when needed to elevate organizational initiatives.
9. Writes monthly job post and email campaign using our email marketing program.
10. Supports community events when needed.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Marketing experience preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in graphic arts, print production, and website maintenance. Knowledge of digital and offset print manufacturing, with pre-press and finishing processes knowledge (i.e. file prep, press quality/color checks, scoring/folding). Must have a high level of interpersonal and problem solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take on multiple tasks. Ability to read and understand written sales orders/quotes, sample sheets and proofs.
Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills. Experience with direct mail (electronic and physical) (i.e. Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor etc.). Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Email Marketing. Strong proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and PowerPoint. Proficient in WordPress content editing and maintenance. Experience managing Google AdWords Accounts.
Certificates & Licenses: Must have a valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s insurance company.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday. 10% Amount of Travel Required.
