Description

Join Axon and be a Force for Good.

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a strong technical background in developing camera hardware and an interest in continuing to grow as a technical expert. The role covers a broad range of activities, including device and imaging electronics, electro-mechanical camera actuators, rapid prototyping, testing, and managing hardware changes and product variants. Depending on the project, you will either create electrical designs yourself or take technical ownership of designs developed by our partners, ensuring they meet the product requirements. Hands-on hardware development is an important part of the role, from building and bringing up prototypes to measurements, debugging and design iterations. You will also apply your system design skills to imaging system optimization. Software skills and an interest in developing tools to automate testing are highly valued. Schematic design and PCB layout review skills are a good bonus, as well hands-on layout design experience.

You will work closely with our global suppliers and manufacturing partners. When it comes to production technologies, we are particularly interested to hear about your experience in camera module manufacturing, production testing, defining and communicating technical production requirements, and supporting suppliers in bringing designs into production.

You will work independently as part of a compact team of experts specializing in electrical engineering, optics, mechanical engineering, and imaging software. An interest in broadening your technical understanding across these areas is highly welcome. We value the ability to take ownership of your own technical activities, drive them forward independently, and communicate technical topics clearly and effectively in a global environment.

You will have opportunities to work across a wide range of technical areas and continuously expand your skillset. Your engineering decisions and technical contributions will have a highly visible impact on our final products. For electrical design, we use Cadence design tools.

What You’ll Do

Work Location: This role is based out of our Tampere office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.
