Program Overview for Sustainable Cities and Transport
WRI India's urban development work aims to transform the way cities are planned and designed to ensure that urban development benefits people, nature and climate. Job Highlight
The selected candidate will support communications and outreach for WRI India’s transport work. The role will involve helping translate research, field insights and programme updates into clear, engaging and accessible communication products for different audiences.
The candidate will support content development, social media, event outreach, design collaterals and documentation across transport themes such as public transport, electric mobility, freight, road safety, active mobility, last-mile connectivity and inclusive urban mobility. The role is suited for someone with strong writing skills, an interest in sustainable transport, strong interest in creating compelling visual designs and the ability to support both digital and offline communication outputs.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a test and participate in an interview as part of the selection process.
What you will do:
Communications and Content Support
- Support the development of communication products for WRI India’s transport projects, including social media posts, event blurbs, invite notes, blogs and short updates.
- Help translate technical research and programme insights into simple, audience-friendly content.
- Support the preparation of content calendars, social media plans and dissemination trackers.
- Coordinate with programme and communications teams to gather inputs, data points, photographs, quotes and other relevant material.
- Assist in ensuring that communication outputs are aligned with WRI India’s editorial and branding guidelines.
Digital Media, Storytelling and Design Support
- Support the creation of engaging digital content such as social media creatives, carousels, infographics, posters, event collaterals and simple visual explainers.
- Work with internal teams and designers to help develop communication materials for campaigns, events, workshops and knowledge products.
- Assist in converting transport data, field stories and research findings into clear visual formats.
- Support basic design work using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms.
Event Outreach and Coordination
- Support communication planning for key convenings, launches, webinars and workshops.
- Assist with pre-event, live-event and post-event communication outputs.
- Coordinate with teams to collect event details, speaker information, photographs and key messages.
- Help prepare social media posts, invite mailers, event summaries and thank-you notes.
- Support basic logistics related to communications, documentation and outreach.
What you will need:
- 0–1 years of relevant experience in communications, content development, design, development sector, urban policy, climate, transport or public interest work.
- Strong writing and editing skills in English.
- Basic understanding of sustainable transport, urban mobility, climate action or development issues is desirable.
- Knowledge of design tools such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or similar platforms.
- Ability to support the development of social media content, posters, infographics, presentations and event collaterals.
- Good coordination skills and ability to work with multiple teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage timelines.
- Willingness to learn, take feedback and support fast-paced communication requirements.
- Knowledge of Hindi or another Indian language such as Kannada or Marathi will be an added advantage.
Stipend: INR 25000 per month
Location: New Delhi/ Bangalore/Mumbai
Duration: 3 Months
