Our Sensors Test Engineering team in Burnsville Minnesota is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (P3) who possesses a BSSE or BSCpE degree to join our team of experienced engineers and technicians supporting production. As a member of our team, you will lead in defining, designing, developing, troubleshooting, and integrating innovative test software onto test solutions supporting commercial and military and defense sensor products. A successful candidate will be an expert individual contributor, curious to solve problems, and driven to complete deliverables for our customers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- You will lead researching, designing, developing, and testing software solutions, and networks as well as resolving day-to-day technical problems by troubleshooting software & electrical devices problems on the production line.
- You will support in providing strategic guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and requirements to best utilize equipment and coding techniques across test engineering.
- You will work in a collaborative team environment and be able to communicate effectively with engineers, operators, and technicians.
- You will design and review major components or major portions of functional test software and present findings to the team.
- You will develop processes, procedures, and best practices for test software design and development in a manufacturing environment.
- You will present project and or technical information to peers, internal management, and customers as part of design reviews.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- You will gain knowledge to adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Design software to communicate and control electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- You will learn to lead the life cycle development of test software and test systems in a manufacturing environment.
- You will learn identification and proposals for modernization of test solutions conducting independent research and analyses.
- You will learn to work as a team to solve the most difficult problems in manufacturing design.
- You will learn how to develop engineering strategies and technical roadmaps for senior leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Prior experience in a software related position
QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:
- Strong understanding of programming with Visual Basic (VB), secondarily with LabVIEW.
- Familiarity with RF and digital electronics.
- Hands-on mentality with a curiosity to understand how components interact in a system.
- Strong understanding of software controlled test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, thermal chambers, etc.
- Familiarity with an aerospace manufacturing environment and AS9100.
- Familiarity with standard avionics busses including 1553, ARINC, CAN, RS485, RS232, and 1394
- Familiarity with ALM JIRA project management (Agile).
- Able to function at a high level with multiple tasks and projects, and to effectively change direction based upon business needs.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
