Job Duties:

The Department of Human Behavior, Justice, and Diversity at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work. The department is seeking individuals who will provide excellent undergraduate and graduate instruction, incorporate current techniques in teaching and research, contribute to administrative responsibilities and work collaboratively to enhance the Social Work program.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Department: Human Behavior, Justice, and Diversity

Full-Time: 100 % appointment, Faculty, Ongoing-Tenure Track, 9-month, one vacancy

Job Responsibilities:

  • Instruction of 12 credits or the equivalent per semester in the field of social work in any of the curriculum areas: methods of practice and micro-clinical courses (interviewing, assessment, groups, families, etcetera) special topics (Crisis Intervention, Trauma-Informed Care, Addictions) in multiple modalities.
  • Student advisement.
  • Administrative tasks may include program coordination and accreditation duties.
  • Service to the University, including program, departmental and campus committee work.
  • Engagement in professional and public service.
  • Engagement in research/scholarly activity and continuing education.

Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned M.S.W. or M.S.S.W. from an accredited social work program, or an earned doctorate in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of two years of post-M.S.W. social work practice experience
  • Experience teaching or learning in an online environment.
  • Eligible for clinical licensure (LCSW/LICSW) or certification in Wisconsin or Minnesota per the rules and regulations of the social work governing board.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Social Work from an accredited institution earned by August 25, 2027.
  • -or- A doctorate in a related discipline and an M.S.W. or M.S.S.W. from an accredited social work program earned by August 25, 2027.
  • Experience serving as the instructor of record for at least one college- or university-level course.
  • Work and/or volunteer history aligned with the mission of the UW-Superior Social Work Program.
  • Familiarity working with / teaching about rural and BIPOC communities and populations.
  • Seven or more years of direct field experience in social services with individuals, families, and/or groups.

Compensation: Salary range for this position is: $60,000 - $68,000 annually.
