Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing projects and work streams within the tax reporting function at Oaktree, with a focus on providing real-time tax data and analytics to streamline reporting and support informed decision-making. The candidate will work closely with other Oaktree personnel in accounting, finance, legal, treasury and operations, as well as external tax and accounting service providers, to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting across the Oaktree Operating Group (upper-tier entities) and the ultimate owners of the corporate structure.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing tax deliverables and processes on behalf of the upper tier/management company entities and owners
- Managing the quarterly tax provision process, inclusive of current and deferred tax expense calculations, deferred tax asset/liability roll forwards, rate reconciliations/effective tax rate calculations, return to provision etc.
- Reviewing purchase price allocations and goodwill calculations
- Assessing inside and outside tax basis differences, as well as differences to GAAP basis
- Completing FIN48 analyses and documenting uncertain tax positions as part of SOX controls
- Coordination with corporate accounting on tax footnote disclosures on financial statements
- Reviewing quarterly tax estimates, quarterly tax payments, annual K-1 deliverables and withholding statements
- Ensuring accuracy and timing of US federal, international, state and local tax returns (inclusive of indirect tax returns) prepared by external tax service providers
- Managing various strategic tax projects and keeping pace with legislative changes
- Drafting various communications to senior stakeholders and partners across the organization
Qualifications
- 7-9 years of relevant tax experience (ASC 740 Tax Provision experience is required; Investment Management partnership tax experience is preferred)
- Experience specifically with operating partnerships/management companies is preferred
- Strong knowledge of general accounting
- Combination of public and private experience is preferred
- The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Education
A Bachelor’s degree relevant to position and CPA preferred, a Master’s degree a plus.
Base Salary Range
$155,000-$185,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
