About the Role:

The Senior Logistics Manager leads logistics and finished goods operations, with responsibility for warehousing, shipping, transportation, and third-party logistics activities. This role is critical to ensuring products move safely, efficiently, and on time from our manufacturing operations to our customers through rail and truck transportation.

The Senior Logistics Manager will partner closely with Production, Procurement, Customer Service, and other operational teams to improve On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance, control logistics costs, strengthen customer service, and transform the overall logistics organization. A major focus of this position will also be developing the team, building succession plans, and creating a strong talent pipeline to support future leadership and operational needs.

What You’re Going to Do:

  • Lead day-to-day logistics operations across warehousing, shipping, transportation, and finished goods activities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient execution.

  • Oversee transportation operations utilizing both rail and truck, ensuring products are delivered to customers on time and in full.

  • Manage third-party logistics providers (3PLs), external warehouses, freight partners, and related logistics operations to ensure strong service, cost, and performance.

  • Lead and develop the logistics leadership team and broader organization, creating succession plans and preparing employees for future career and leadership opportunities.

  • Build a strong internal talent pipeline to support workforce planning, anticipated retirements, and future operational needs.

  • Develop and monitor logistics scorecards and key performance indicators related to OTIF, productivity, transportation costs, service levels, and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with Production, Procurement, Customer Service, and other teams to align production, inventory, transportation capacity, and customer requirements.

  • Drive change management and transformation initiatives to modernize logistics processes, improve productivity, reduce waste, and strengthen organizational capabilities.

  • Oversee freight, export, and transportation activities while identifying opportunities to optimize logistics costs and improve customer service.

  • Manage and resolve logistics-related customer claims and complaints, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

What We Expect from You:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Significant experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing or similarly complex operational environment.

  • Proven experience leading teams and managing day-to-day logistics operations.

  • Experience managing or working directly with railroad transportation operations.

  • Experience with truck transportation, freight management, warehousing, and logistics service providers.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational performance, costs, productivity, and customer service metrics.

  • Experience leading organizational change, process improvement, or operational transformation initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the paper, packaging, pulp, forest products, or related manufacturing industries.

  • Experience managing 3PL providers and external warehouse operations.

  • Experience with export logistics and freight operations.

  • Experience developing succession plans and building talent pipelines within an operational organization.

  • Experience using logistics KPIs, scorecards, and data to drive continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • People-Focused Leader: Develops employees, creates opportunities for growth, and builds a strong pipeline of future leaders.

  • Change Leader: Comfortable challenging existing processes and leading teams through transformation and organizational change.

  • Operational Leader: Understands day-to-day logistics operations and stays connected to what is happening in the field.

  • Collaborative Partner: Builds strong relationships across Production, Procurement, Customer Service, and other functions.

  • Analytical Thinker: Uses operational data, KPIs, and scorecards to identify problems and drive better decisions.

  • Customer-Focused: Understands how logistics performance impacts the customer experience and proactively addresses service issues.

  • Results-Oriented: Balances safety, service, productivity, cost, and people development while maintaining accountability.

  • Safety Champion: Promotes a strong safety culture across employees, contractors, transportation providers, and warehouse operations.

We are pleased to offer an attractive compensation and benefits package for this role, which includes:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Multiple plan options with nationwide networks to support your physical health and preventive care.

  • Life and AD&D Insurance: Company-paid basic coverage and optional plans to protect you and your loved ones.

  • Disability Insurance: Short-term and long-term coverage to help protect your income in case of illness or injury.

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Automatic enrollment with a generous company match to help you plan for the future.

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA): Tax-advantaged accounts with company contributions to help manage healthcare expenses.
