SUMMARY

The Sr. Healthcare Market Manager will play a key role in developing the five-year strategic plan, building the framework, defining the key markets, segments, and applications that will propel business growth.  This is a global role working in close collaboration with commercial, key accounts, and technology teams.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work closely with product managers, commercial heads, and account managers to collect key market insights and to put forward market growth strategies.
  • Conduct regular market intelligence reports outlining industry drivers, competitive positioning, and our counter responses.
  • Integrate with the stage gate to develop strategy and market penetration analysis, market growth and risk potential, as well as overall value of new projects.  Drive profitable growth initiatives by building business cases, prioritizing investments, supporting commercialization of new products and solutions, and supporting the annual budget.
  • Create, validate, update market maps generated at detailed customer and competitor level with overall macro consolidation for independent assessment and triangulation with industry trends and reports, that will be used to win share and champion growth pillars.  
  • Define and track leading and lagging indicators associated with key markets and build models for predictive analysis.
  • Perform competitive analysis, SWOTs, integrating press releases, building a fact base through investigating and discovery, researching operations, financials, technology, product portfolio to create competitor business models.  Use information to conduct War Games.  Define areas of differentiation and platform for us to win in the marketplace. 
  • Conduct value chain analysis to identify growth opportunities, profit pools across the chain, competitive positioning, and strategic adjacency opportunities across raw materials, converters, OEMs, distributors, and end-use customers. 
  • Evaluate M&A targets, strategic partnerships, and investment opportunities that accelerate growth in new markets and technologies. 
  • Collaborate across Sales, Product Management, Technology, Operations, and Finance to communicate product roadmaps, market strategies, and customer value propositions to profitably grow the business as a solutions provider vs. pushing volumes.
  • This role is located at WGC’s Houston corporate headquarters.  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, bioengineering or a related field is required.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and influence cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional abilities to utilize AI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in presenting and interfacing senior executives and customers.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of global healthcare markets and the role of advanced polymer solutions in enabling medical device innovation, patient care and safety, meeting regulatory compliance. The individual should have demonstrated experience across key healthcare segments, including:
    • Drug delivery systems
    • Blood contact, infusion, advanced tubing
    • Fluid management and bioprocessing
    • Diagnostics and monitoring
    • Minimally invasive and surgical devices
    • Medical equipment and healthcare infrastructure
    • Nutrition and pharmaceutical packaging
  • Must understand how polymer technologies including PVC, TPE, TPU, silicone, polyolefins, engineering thermoplastics, and specialty compounds are utilized to meet performance, sterilization, biocompatibility, regulatory and sustainability requirement to champion profitable growth initiatives for Westlake Global Compounds.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of healthcare market drivers associated with major disease states and demographic trends, including:
    • Diabetes and continuous glucose monitoring
    • Obesity management and GLP-1 drug delivery systems
    • Cardiovascular disease
    • Oncology and cancer treatment delivery systems
    • Renal care and dialysis
    • Aging population and home healthcare
  • Must have functional experience with both single-use/disposable medical products and highly regulated Class II and Class III medical devices, with an understanding of medical device qualification processes, material selection, regulatory considerations, and OEM purchasing behaviors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk and climb; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and infrequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.   The employee must frequently make minor decisions with limited information, general decisions in the absence of specific directions, and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  During active remediation additional requirements may include fit testing for respiratory equipment, chemical suits, face shields, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs.  Moderate travel (20-40%) may be required in the performance of duties.
