Senior Legal CounselWe are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.
Role Purpose
Support the execution of large-scale EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Installation) contracts within the oil and gas industry. This role demands a strategic legal professional with deep sector knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced and complex project environment.
Key Accountabilities
Legal support to projects
- Provide legal support throughout the life cycle of EPCI projects, from tendering and contract negotiation to execution and close-out.
Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including project-specific agreements, subcontracts, strategic framework agreements.
Ensure contract compliance
- Work closely with project teams, engineering, procurement, and executive leadership to manage legal risk and ensure contractual compliance
Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks
- Proactively identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks throughout project execution.
Legal advice on claims management and disputes
- Provide strategic legal advice on claims management, disputes, and interface with external counsel where required.
Others
- Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met, including international compliance standards. Contribute to internal training and the development of best practices and legal templates. Maintain strong knowledge of relevant international laws, industry regulations, and emerging legal risks.
Qualifications
• Fully qualified lawyer with a law degree from a recognized common-law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 15 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 10 years in the oil and gas industry, specifically in EPCI project execution.
